"The rubber boot makes them hard to install in the front. A tie-wrap holds the boot to the shock body.
The rears have to be compressed to install. That's hard to do by yourself while trying to slide the bolt through the frame.
The cool red side has to go up so no one will ever see it.
The ride isn't much better. They are overpriced in my opinion."

New Shocks for the Escalade

"After 100K miles I installed the new Edelbrock IAS Performer shocks on my 2000 4WD Cadillac Escalade. The shocks are advertised as providing a much smoother and more compliant ride on the street and a much more stable and controlled ride on the highway. Although smoother than the stock Bilstiens on the street the new Performers still have some harshness but its much improved over the stock shocks. However, I've found the highway ride to be absolutely exceptional. I've had these shocks on my truck for over three weeks and I really notice the difference when driving over familier bumps on my daily drive. Although still a little stiff on the worst roads the IAS shocks don't deliver the harsh jolt that I experienced with the stock units. In fact I've noticed myself actually tightening up as I pass over some of the worst washboard sections and then realizing that I'm not experiencing the harsh bump back and jolt that I felt from the stock equipment. Even though I've purchased Edelbrock equipment in the past, I was hesitant to buy shocks from them. Especially when these shocks cost as much as they do. But, over the last three weeks after driving with them in very windy conditions and in both very dry and very wet conditions I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again or to recommend them to my friends. At the risk of turning this into a commercial, I guess its true what Vic Edelbrock says; he wouldn't put his name on it if it wasn't the best.

"I installed the shocks on my 2000 Explorer in about 2 hours. Everything went very smooth, the directions were very clear and the included new parts were complete with no shortages. But the ride, the ride is great. I only had 40K on the original shocks but felt there was room for improvement. I was right. Much less wheel hop and even an improvement in handling in the wind. I am very pleased."

"Had a new set of Gabriel Sport Rider shocks installed on my 1991 Ford Ranger. After three months by being beat to death by these shocks I researched and found the Edelbrock IAS Performers and was convinced I had to have them. I shopped around and found them at AutoAnything.com (best price). WOW, what a difference in ride and handling!!! I just wish I had heard of these several months ago. Worth every cent!"

"The shocks have a very impressive appearance...but that is as far as it goes. The shocks have a mushy "Luxury car" ride to them and bottom out on off road. As of this review I have since replaced these shocks with a new set of Bilstein shocks to regain the proper Z71 performance that I expect from my Chevy truck. Sorry, Edelbrock!!!"

"Since installing the Edlebrock Performer IAS Shocks on my 2002 Avalanche, I've felt like I purchased a new truck for under $300. The Avalanche is a heavy vehicle but these shocks have tamed the road and make turning a more sure thing. I would recommend these shocks to anyone who wants to give themselves a new car feeling for very little money."

"The edelbrock performer IAS shocks are amazing. I went from the stock shocks on my 02 Ford F150 to a set of KYB shocks that were supposed to be good after I bought my truck because of the rough ride and handling issues. I had those shocks for about 10,000 miles and ended up hating them due to their sluggish response and body role as well as their oscillations after a speed bump. I opted for the Performer IAS shocks because I was interested in the technology and it advertised Smooth ride and Control, and I got exactly that. They were odd to install on the front because the posts are short and Edelbrock is aware of that and they said to go ahead and install, so I did and wow! The difference is amazing, it handles like a sport tuned suspension with very little body roll and helps the tires stick to the ground and it is smooth like a luxury car or SUV over dirt, rough street, potholes, or any terrain. It is truely an amazing technology and an amazing product. Well worth the $300 I paid for them. I reccommend this product for anyone wishing to transform their vehicle's ride performance. The decreased roughness of the ride creates a quieter ride inside the cab and decreases maintainance of tightening things that come loose during normal vibrations during driving. All in all the perfect product for achieving sport like handling with a luxury style ride. Also the ride under a load of weight is as eaually impressive when towing or hauling heavy things, it still rides smooth and handles great."

"I have only been able to ride them for about a week at this point and i have to do some minor adjusting but they are great for off road, and good on the street i believe they can be better on the street however. They have a "The Best on the Market Rating and i am very happy."

"I have these shocks on the front and rear of my 97 Jeep Wrangler. I am delighted with them, and they corner well. My Jeep is not lifted, but I am running larger than stock tires. Jeeps tend to not be performance vehicles, but these shocks let me corner, turn, and lane change effortlessly. They out perform Rancho, OEM, and Monroes that I have previously used."

"I purchased Edelbrock IAS shocks for my truck when it had 20,000 miles on the factory shocks. The ride was extremely better on and off road.My wife says the ride is 100% better. I have other after market shocks on my other vehicles and in my opinion the Edelbrocks out perform them."
