Air Lifts for 2004 Ford Freestar
Posted on 08/08/2007 by Roland B. - 2009 Honda Odyssey (Ledyard,CT)

"The Freestar van dragged its tail when fully loaded. Headlights were shining into the trees. Air Lifts have fixed the problem. I had the kit professionally installed. The tech told me that all fitted well, and it was not difficult. He said he dropped the shock absorbers for an extra inch of access.
End result: Freestar stays level when loaded, and actually handles better; leans less on cornering.
I'm well pleased with the Air Lift Leveling kit for my vehicle."

"Purchased SureSet and AirSprings, They went on fine but one sensor failed within a day and the other failed within a week. AirLift mailed me two new sensors in about a week and everything working fine now. Unloaded ride is harsher now but should be able to carry load much better. AutoAnything were good to work with."

"Just got back from the Black Hills South Dakota, camping gear, bicyles, etc. We would have been staring at the sky during the drive without the Air Lifts. Highly recommend. Still needed to get different (smaller) hose clamps for the heat shield though... I ran the valve to the gas cap. Ride is the same, loaded or not."

2006 Honda Pilot EX-L Nav

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
"I chose to install the Airlift 1000 kit due to the well known issue with the independent rear suspension of the Honda Pilot. Our family takes many trips with a cargo box ontop, family of 5 sometimes w/ a few friends and a cargo rack or bike rack on the rear.
I installed the kit without the Tee, and ran the hoses and mounted the valves next to the fuel fill cap. Giving easy access and individual control over both airbags.
The install took less than 2 hours, a sawzall with a 7" fine tooth bi-metal blade made cutting the bump stops much easier then the 'sharp knife' method.
The ride is quite comfortable with a noticable increase in ride height in the rear. (I also added the 1/2" space #09191 from Airlift) the spacer is not necessary, but I did not want to do the job twice if it was. The only additional parts recommended for the install would be a 3/4" electrical bushing (picked mine up from Home Depot) to protect the airbag where the fill valve goes through the lower control arm.
I also drilled two 3/4" holes next to each other like an hourglass and smoothed the sides. The off-center location that the template shows is a bit off, so the second hole was drilled closer to the center.
The install was very straightforward and I would highly recommend the kit."

"Haven't loaded up and hooked up the trailer yet, but it seems like it should work fine. Installation was more like 4 hours. I'm sure with a lift it would have been faster. First side took 2.5 hours. Second side in about 1.5 hours. You can't just remove the bottom shock bolt. You have to remove the top shock mounting bracket to get the suspension to drop down enough to get the spring out. Plastic "T" should be brass, plastic seems to easy to break. Extra spring clamps would also be nice since they are pretty fragile. Chased down 2 leaks and now it's holding air. Be sure to check the valve stem. It wasn't screwed in tight from the manufacturer. Lifts the truck 1.5 inches unloaded."

"This was an upgrade on my 05 pathfinder 4x4. Stock springs are very soft and needed a bit of help to keep from sagging. Easy install except for putting the ends in the airline. At full 30 psi it provides a good amount of support but I would have liked more. I think they rate it at 1000lbs but I think at 30psi you'd get approx 400 lbs of lift support judging by my trailer tounge weight. One of the bags has some weird stretch mark looking things running through the bags - not sure if this is normal or will affect longevity. A value though at <$100."

Air Lift on 05 Honda Pilot

"This is the third vehicle I have installed Air Lift Air springs on. The previous systems on an Olds Bravada and Nissan Pathfinder. This system on the Honda Pilot is not as good. The problem is more with the Honda Rear suspension than the Air Bags. But Air Lift should have made allowances for the design. This application uses a very short Air lift Bag.Because the bag is so short and there is very little coil spring to support the bag. When you fill the bag with air instead of lifting the car the bag just expands into areas of no support. Also having to cut off the old spring bumpers to install the bag the top of the bag is not supported by a large enough diameter. I have to put 30 lbs in the bags to get any lift at all. My previous vehicles with the same load I needed only 10 lbs of air pressure. Also because I had to cut the bumpers off for installation. I cannot go back to OEM unless I purchase new bumpers. Air Lift Springs Have been a good product in the past but not on this application. I would not buy them again for My 2005 Honda Pilot I will have to look at other options."

"Air Lift system was easy to install, but one of the clamps broke, which was very irritating. It added an hour of my time to the project, because there was not an extra one included and I had to go buy one. Luckily my wife's car was available to use! The clamps are cheap and should be upgraded by the company, or they should include at least 2 extra clamps in the kit.
I have pulled my tent trailer with it and am happy with it, so far."

"These seem to work well, so far. Installation is not difficult. It's easier if the vehicle is lifted from the body, as opposed to driven up ramps. Use jackstands! Allowing the suspension to hang down provides additional spacing between the spring coils, making it easier to feed the bag through. No leaks and the ride seems firmer and slightly higher. Have not used under heavy load yet. Should help a lot to prevent headlights in eyes of oncoming drivers when loaded. Be creative in routing the air lines to avoid them hanging down and getting snagged. No need for optional on board compressor in my opinion."

"Installed this kit on my 2000 Windstar to remove the saggy rearend when I tow my pop-up. Install was simple except the directions where vague where to route the hose to each air bag. There is a hole in middle of the upper spring seat on the frame that you should route the hose through. It's easy to do if you remove the springs which is also easy to do. After install which took 1 hour, I inflated them to the recommended 35psi and hooked up the camper. No more saggy rearend. Great product at a great price with free shipping . I highly recommend!"
