Went through the death wobble 3 times. Replaced factory (completely dead) front shocks and steering stabilizer with Bilstein 5100 series. Rides like a truck again and no more death wobble. Excellent quality shocks.

I did not realize how bad my stocks struts were until I had the replace with the 5100s. I had the x-reas on my 2004 Toyota 4 runner limited v8. Dealer quoted me 2600 to replace. Went with the cheaper but better route. Fantastic product.

Cranked the keys up on my half ton a few weeks ago to level it out and the shocks that were on it were worn out and not long enough. As soon as I got these on it rode so much better I regretted not buying the rear shocks at the same time. It takes bumps much better and they don't seem over extended because they are longer than stock. This place at the lowest price I could find and shipping was pretty fast too. I'd order them again and recommend them to others.

The installation of these shocks was simple. The adjustable front shocks that I put on where spot on. I was concerned at first on the way the adjustments where made. It is a clip ring that holds it in place at the adjusted level and then a cap goes over it to keep it in place, Just seems alittle cheap but it works. It made my F150 4x4 sit level. Looks great.

The 5100's were a great answer to leveling the front of my 2008 tundra. Way better than some crappy spacer lift!! They install as easy as any new strut cartridge would and they hold true to bilstein quality. The only drawback I've found so far is that you only have a couple inches of up travel before you're topped out but that's only been noticed once. I put the 5100's on the rear as well as a deaver spring leaf upgrade. Awesome shocks!!

I've installed replacement shocks on my truck, why do these need a shop to install them?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jun 04, 2013 11:31 AM
Hi, If you're installed shocks before, this shouldn't be an issue. If special requirements are needed for a product we place a note: under our feature section or next to the product once you select your submodel options.

do you need springs as well?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 13, 2013 4:06 PM
Hi, A shock absorber acts as a damper to reduce jolts from uneven roads and pot holes. Your springs support the weight of your truck. When installing new shocks that are around the same height as stock, you can either reuse your factory springs (if they are not worn too badly) or install new springs.

I am a bit confused whether the 5100 adjustable series shocks will act alone to raise/level the front end on my truck in lieu of a spacer or coil over type leveling system, or if the shock is adjustable to work in conjunction with a truck that already has a spacer or coil over leveling kit installed. If the 5100 shock does raise the front end by itself, are any other parts required for this installation? Thanks.

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. I see you have the Bilstein 5100 Series Shocks for my truck. The price is listed as $131.95 each. Would that be a total of $263.90 for a pair for the front end?

Stock 2011 F350 SD ext.cab 4x4 dually...5100's front & back? I ask cause the page I'm taken to says "specifically for lifted pickups", but I've not lifted it.
Answered by Nathan S. — Jul 13, 2012 1:50 PM
You can safely select the 0-2" range shock absorbers for a stock height application. The shocks are noted for lifted trucks because they are more heavily built than your factory shock absorbers and we offer extended lengths for lifted trucks along with factory length. They will be a great upgrade for your F-350.

Hi, I need rear shocks. Tell me please, can I use it (5100 Series - Rear) or (Rear - 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber) for my Toyota sequoia platinum 2008 and which kind of them is better. Thank you.
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jun 29, 2012 5:31 PM
Thank you for contacting AutoAnything. Either one will work for you. The 5100 series is meant more for lifted trucks that go off road and the Heavy Duty ones are good stock replacements. Please call us and let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
