VIAIR 400 Series Portable Air Compressors Reviews

High Price for a Unique Item

Reviewed By Larry M (Long Beach, CA) Reviewed for a 1998 Lexus SC 400 —4/15/2009 10:28 AM

This is a very expensive compressor made in China. It is also the only 12V compressor out there specifically made to carry in your RV. The pumping capacity of this compressor is amazing, and it is very quiet. The two air chucks it comes with address the common problem with RV tires - the inside rear duals are very hard to reach, and this equipment makes access much easier. It comes in a great bag with a lot of pockets and zippers (makes the entire unit bigger than it needs to be), and the two air hoses it comes with make reaching rear tires a snap. At over $300, it is at least 50% overpriced, but it currently has no competition. If you have an RV and want to carry an effective air compressor, this is the one to buy.

Renee's Review

Reviewed By Rene D (Wells, NV) Reviewed for a 2004 Dodge Ram —5/19/2017 7:09 AM

Installing was easy. We mounted the unit to a sheet of aluminum that we cut to fit under the back seat and behind the flat load floor on the right side. We kept the unit loose under the back of the seat in case of need to get to it to work on it. The air lines were run through a small hole drilled into the back of the cab and then sealed around it. The unit works very well and the air compressor noise in the cab is very tolerable since you only hear it when you inflate or deflate the bags.
