If my hunch is right, and they usually are, I think Saab had to change up their model naming scheme because they were running out of acceptable length numbers. Kind of like Y2K, I am sure they were worried about planes falling from the sky, ATMs not working and society falling apart. Thus, the Saab 9000 is so valuable.
