I put in new Downey 1.5 inch lift heavy half ton (slightly stiffer than the factory equipment) rear coil springs with these shocks. The ride is only marginally stiffer than factory, but the overall control is dramatically improved. The vehicle handles much better and I notice significantly less rear-end sway. I haven't taken the vehicle off-road yet, so I can't say how it does on varied terrain, but if the gutters, driveways and other uneven road ways I've been on are any indication, it handles the bumps smoothly as well. All in all, I'm very happy with the outcome and couldn't be more impressed with the shocks. If you're considering saving some money, these shocks are a very wise choice.
