Had started to experience a wobble in the front end especially after hitting bumps. This was not present when the Jeep was new and my first thought was tire balance or cupping. The balance was OK but the tires were starting to cup. Rotated them and still had the problem. Installed the Rancho steering stabilizer and solved my problem. A great product though I liked the white finish better than the silver metalic.

I installed the dual shocks pictured above & it stopped the wobble Right Now. They're Very simple to install & took about 1/2 hour. The hardest thing I encountered when I installed this stabilizer was removing the OEM stabilizer. The right side of the OEM stabilizer shock is held in place with a tapered pin that is permanently attached to the shock. Since there is no room on top of the stabilizer bar to whack this pin after removing the nut, I had to use a small crow bar to pop the pin loose. Once done, the Rancho shock went on without any drama. The good thing about the Rancho setup is that I only have to remove two nuts if the shock has to be replaced and do not have to mess with the pin. The difference in the ride is subtle. At first I was unable to tell the difference between it and the OEM shock. The difference became very apparent when I hit strong cross winds and bumpy roads. I no longer have the feeling that the front tires are wandering, especially when towing my 38' fifth wheel. I would recommend this stabilizer for all Chevy trucks!

After a 4.5 inch lift my steering was decent. If I was offroading my steering wheel would have a mind of its own when going over bumps, logs, and other terra. With the Rancho Steering Stabilizer (OEM Replacement, non-dual) my steering is very controlled offroad and on. It also stopped my little wobble in the wheel. The most important thing with this stabilizer is the B.A. factor. When going down the road with the red and white stabilizer showing it lets everyone know your vehicle is B.A.! Buy one!

Have a stock 1999 Ford Expedition 4WD. Just installed steering damper Labor Day weekend. Noticed right away that steering buckled down quite a bit on the test drive. My application for my vehicle is to tow a travel trailer (25 ft) and wanted something that tamed the "bowl of jello" I was driving. Seems to work well unloaded. Have not tested it with a trailer in back, but expect good results (this is the reason for 4/5 stars). Going over bumps and dips on roads yielded a nice ride. Side note: The steering damper was the same as the regular Rancho 5000 shock - just a different SKU number! Installation: Clear instructions, assumed you know what the car parts are, but pictures were a big help. We installed it in less than a half an hour. Quick, and good "bang for the buck" handling option.
