Modification needed to fit (05 Tacoma)

Reviewed By Darrin G (Kapolei, HI) Reviewed for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma —5/15/2017 8:49 PM

Had to do a lot of modifications to make it work. Rear cross bar need to be shortened a couple of inches to fit. Had to relocate strut mounts to close the cover. The cover looks decent but the back hangs over the tailgate about an inch to make tailgate and cover seal (and it still lets in more rain water then I would expect). Over all, the cover looks decent but would not purchase again.

Ok, but not perfect

Reviewed By David B (RAEFORD, NC) Reviewed for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma —11/20/2012 8:57 AM

First, contrary to what Rep says, you DO lose the use of your utility bars using this cover. The cab side is the only one not blocked. THe instructions are SOO off. You have to have the ORANGE kit to install and they do not give you enough peices for a good fit, so you have to call and request a second one. Trying to adjust for perfect fit is painful. On the attachment brackets, use the top holes!! I'm better than average at mechanics, not a novice.

2005 Tacoma

Reviewed By Charles f V (Belton, MO) Reviewed for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma —6/26/2012 7:10 AM

Extang made custom clamps for the Tacoma with a factory bedliner so THERE IS NO CUTTING REQUIRED !! This looks as good as the pictures and goes on as easily as you would expect. I can recommend this without hesitation. My last small truck had a cover with snaps all around and it was a PITA to put on and off. My next cover will be an Extang Tuff Tonneau III again.
