A Great Top

Posted on 11/22/2007 by Harry P. - 1995 Dodge Ram (Philadelphia,PA)

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.

"The top was really no problem to install, I used a nut driver in my drill driver instead of a screwdriver and it went on quite quickly. Even though I had to modify my under the rail bed liner it still only took me a few hours to install. The instructions could be a little better and the only problem I had was in the last step, when I went to install the top on the canister the screw holes did not line up and I had to drill new ones, other than this it’s a great buy."

"Cover is nice. Could have used better instuctions. Still having problems with the lock. Also agree with the others on having phillip heads instead of flat. Would have cut the install time in half. Only two weeks but already seeing the gas savings."

I Like it, but

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

"Like others have said, the instructions could be a bit better when it come to installing the side rails and guides. Also like others I would like to see phillip heads instead of flat. I had no problem with the lock, other than the screw holding it together was missing from the kit. I did not do the clamp set and had to redrill the last two holes, nearest the tailgate as the factory drilled hit air on my 2006 Tundra with plastic edge protectors. I give it a 9 and it only took 1+30 to install, even withthe redrilling. :))"

"I was able to install it by myself in a few hours. It does just what I wanted. It keeps the things I put in under dry, it locks to keep people out. It makes my truck look GREAT!!and improved my fuel mileage.I added a pull strap so I can open and close it from the tailgate."

"I have a more expensive one of these on another vehical and looking at the pictures and reading the spec. I couldn't justify the diffrance in price. This one only opens and closes with a key, which means if you want something out of the back you have to turn off your vehical. Second is that it doesn't lock to your tailgate so if your tailgate doesn't lock theres no security."

"I really like the top. I had no trouble with the lock (as some has said), but I did have some trouble getting the rails lined up. They should make the screws with for a philips screwdriver instead of a flathead screwdriver. Would make it more sturdy."

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"My husband installed it and loves it. However, the lock was difficult to catch at the begining..Very Tricky. It has saved us gas and we loves the security that it added to our truck. Love the slim design and how easy it is to work. Just wish it would have come in white to match our truck."

Too much for the money

Posted on 07/11/2007 by Larry J. - 2005 Dodge Ram (Kempner,TX)

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful.

"The installation was very easy with the provided instructions. There were some flaws in the workmanship of the product. One of the rails had a cut out in it for the clamp mount right where the screw hole was drilled and tapped to mount the guide rail to the bed mount. I guess I was expecting too much from the innovators of the Roll-Top cover. The cover looks great but it is so flimsy that going down the highway the wind makes it bounce up and down like it was pure cloth, not reinforced with (very thin aluminum channels stapled to cloth). Over all it is a good looking cover but Too much for the money."

Great cover

Posted on 06/12/2007 by Thomas E. - 2004 Dodge Ram (Little River,TX)

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

"I had my first cover for 8 years and on 6 different GM trucks. I worked great on all of them. I just bought one for a 2004 Dodge. I think they need to do something different with the canister. It was very hard to get centered and stay on because it is to narrow for the front of the bed, the canister saggs because be brackets are not wide enough and does not support it good. Over all it is still the best $650.00 I have spent on a truck because it makes the bed so versital."

Posted on 05/25/2007 by Leroy P. - 2007 Ford F150 (Katy,TX)

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"The installation of the cover was very easy for one person. The only problem I had with the installation was the locking mechanism. After installing it, the lock would not go into locking position. The part on the lock tha moves the arms kept hitting the cover keeping the lock from turning. After taking a screw driver and bending each side down a little to let it clear the cover, everything workd find. The lock mechanism is not quite long enough to allow the rivets on the arms to clear the cover."

SPUNKYG's S10 EXTREME

Posted on 05/18/2007 by Richard J. - 2000 Chevy S10 Pickup (Stone Mountain,GA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The roll-top came from Washington state and was not delivered when said online. It was easy to install on a scale of 1 to 10; I'd give it an 9. not sure what the shims are for(no display showing where they go). Impossible to tighten the screws by the tailgate. I guess you have to call and order the pull strap separate, I saw nowhere online where I could order it with the product; I think it should have come with it, along with the Pace Edwards UV protectant for the sweep seal that they want you to apply in step 6. Make sure you have 2 drill bits I broke one, but had a back up. I also used a lil bit of tap magic before drilling makes that part ezier. Not bad for the price I like it."
