"Good cover but I had more difficulty than I expected. The cover canister was damaged when I received it. I was immediately sent a new one. I easily transferred the cover from the damaged canister to the new canister. However, I did not discover that the drain hose opening was smaller on the replacement canister so I am trying to get new drain hoses to fit. The cover is advertised as being able to be attached without drilling any holes. This is true if you know to order your cover with the clamp kit. This was not part of the order information when I ordered over the internet. That caused some delay and additional costs. The cover looks nice and I think it will do what I want. The install directions could be clearer. The cover comes with a roll of insulation and the only explanation is that it may need to be used in certain situations. However, it does not spell out the situations. Also, using the clamps on the canister box is not deatiled very well. I am not sorry I bought the cover. I saved three to five hundred dollards by installing myself. My golfing buddy had one on his pickup and he really liked his. That recommendation was good enough for me. He said it took him only 30 minutes to install using clamps. It took me a lot longer."

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The cover is great but the installation was far from easy. The instructions were poorly written and lots of wasted time. I am guessing the installation was way over 12 hours when it should have been maybe four at the most. One thing I am not sure of is how the cover rolls up without anyone touching it. I attributed it to perhaps not locking it well but I was sure I had. So far I would rate it on a scale of 10 at the best only a seven. Looks are around an 8 though."

"love the top, this is my 4th. one in 12 years. very disappointed with the quailty control.had 2 predrilled and taped holes in each slide rail stripped same location each side and the canister came twisted and did not lay square had to musle it to get it in position and then the trim cover did not fit had to pull the screws and re install, I got it on and it works...love the top as i did the last 3 but not happy with the quaility control and now it is on and i hope it holds its place ??"

"Directions were a little hit and miss. Could have had more clarification. Be sure to read them at least once before you start. 2 people definately make the job easier and you will get a better job. Cover looks great and is quite. Closure mechanism is key operated, but this allows it to be rolled up neatly in the box by the cab."

"The install was fairly easy, only problem I had was the rollup box was not squared up so the cover and screws did not work. I am waiting for better weather to move it around so I can get the screws in place. The lock set is very light and needs help to work correctly."

J B in California

Posted on 12/08/2006 by John B. - 2004 Ford F150 (Calimesa,CA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I received the roll top in jig time and it was all complete, in good order. I did the installation myself and love the product. It took me awhile to install because the instructions about leveling the side rails were not very clear and there were no pictures or drawings to show how and where to place the shims. A little explanation as to why shims are needed and where to place them to make up for the angles in the truck bed tops would have made it easier. However, I figured it out. Totaling the time I spent, with interfering personal issues, it took about two hours to get the top installed and working. Several friends that would like to have an open bed for hauling and the security of a lockable tonneau have asked by from where I got this neat top. I told them where to go and advised they could expect good service and a good product."

"I recently purchased and installed the roll-top cover and am satisfied with my purchase. My wife helped me install it, and within 2 hours it was on and working great. I will go with a full metal rolling cover next time for added strength but you can't beat this for the price and security."

My only install problems

Posted on 08/14/2006 by Robert E S. - 2006 Toyota Tacoma (Fort Lauderdale,FL)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"I couldn't find a roll up hard cover locally(S.Fla.) and certainly not for the price! I had to grind the outermost adj. slots on one of the side rails(screw holes didnt line up) I noticed, the width of the adj.side rails dertermined how well the locking linkage worked. If either side rail is too far in that sides locking mech. bar bottoms out and the key won't fully turn. I adj. the rails to make this work vs side to side clearance for the cover. I had two days of monsoon like conditions since installing and there was just a little leaking. If I put on the gaskit kit for the tailgate it might help. The "Toad Chokers" down here are probally too much for any roll up style cover to stay watertight. I'm happy though!"

An excellent value

Posted on 07/30/2006 by Wm H. - 2006 Ford F150 (The Colony,TX)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"The Pace Edwards Roll-Top is a good looking, good quality, locking bed cover. The versatility of having the top roll-up out of the way of large loads is fabulous. The installation was a little tricky but there are enough built in adjustments so you can custom fit the top to your application. I was very pleased with the look of the installed top. I wish they had included a pull strap and a handle on the latch instead of just a key turn to lock the top. But I would buy another one just as it is. This is the best top available for the money."

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"Not bad to install, looks great.Very easy to work out of the entire bed, something you can't do with a hard tonneau. Not real happy with the weatherstrip on the inside track, I will be contacting Pace Edwards for replacement after 3 days use. Not very dry around the edges. Still happy with it on a 12 year old truck. I think if you want DRY you need a hard tonneau."
