Features

  • Protect your valuable cargo from the fast hands of parking lot bandits with Pace Edwards' PowerGate
  • Adds a tough dead bolt to your tailgate that locks and unlocks automatically with your power door locks
  • Engage or disengage your PowerGate with the push of a button—your keyless entry remote controls it
  • A toggle switch is available for trucks not equipped with power door locks
  • The PowerGate works seamlessly with any Pace Edwards tonneau cover or other covers
  • The backing plate and slide bolt on your PowerGate are wrought from stainless steel, and the guide block is crafted from sturdy nylon
  • Your PowerGate installs in an hour or less and requires no drilling
  • Comes with the necessary "plug-and-go" wiring harness to link your PowerGate tailgate lock to your pickup's electrical system
  • Built with pride in the USA
  • Pace Edwards covers your PowerGate with a 3-year warranty

Description

While tonneau covers prevent thieves from peeking into your truck bed, nothing's stopping them from opening your tailgate and swiping your stuff. Without a dead bolt on your tailgate, your valuables are always vulnerable to sticky fingers. Batten down the hatches of your tonneau-equipped truck with Pace Edwards' PowerGate to safeguard your cargo from bandits.

You never have to remember to lock your PowerGate. It automatically activates when you lock and unlock your power doors. Simply hit the button on your keyless remote, and your entire vehicle is locked down tighter than a Sing Sing cell block. If your rig doesn't have the power package, you can still use the PowerGate with the optional toggle switch.

Your PowerGate is built tough using a stainless steel backing plate and slide bolt with a nylon guide block. It mounts nearly invisible inside your tailgate in an hour or less without any drilling. Backed by a 3-year warranty.

Notes

  • If your vehicle does not have power door locks, you can still use the PowerGate. In place of the power door locks, the manual toggle switch kit gives you control over the locking mechanism.

"The item arrived on time as they promised. Was ready to start installation as soon as it arrived. Read most of the instructions (like guys do) and unpacked every thing. Instructions where straight forward. The hardest part of the whole instalation was getting the wiring harness thru the firewall and not making it look like a rats nest. Got everything hooked up and tried it out for the first time. Worked great for several days but stopped working when I tried to unlock tailgate. Found that the wire splicers inside the door were not making good contact. Modified the wire splicer and every thing is working perfect!!!!!!!! Great producted!!!!! Mark from Texas"

"No need to remove door panel. Wiring inside fuse panel (drivers side). Use upper left harness, locate Gray and Tan wires. These are to be used for connection to relays. Easier to install than removing door panel. There is no purple wire and only one tan wire."

"The PowerGate is an excellent product/ Mechanically, it was very easy to install. The only drawback was the very poor installation instructions. I had to take off a lower dash panel, a wiring harness bracket and the front seat to have enough room to search and locate the white/tan - white/lt green wires to tap into for actuating the lock. The instructionsw said the two wires were near the brake pedal. The were behind a bracket on the far left side under the carpet. That was a nightmare to find and tap into."

". . . unless you are color blind. Instructions, though vague, do fine all the way until it tells you to attach the wire taps to the "tan wire with a light green stripe and a lime green wire." What the instructions don't say is that there is a bundle of what seems like 100 wires under the dash. The only advice I can offer to finding the colored wires is that it is somewhere in the smaller bundle that breaks off from the main bundle and runs down to the bottom of the relay (you'll see when you stick your head down there). Otherwise, great product that helps secure cargo and the valuable tailgate with ease."

"The easiest part of the installation was running the cable under the truck. Once I completed installation it worked as advertised, now my tailgate, Truxedo Lo Pro QT Tonneau Cover, and anything I carry are secure. The directions state 1997-2005 Dakota, they work on a 2007 but with minor changes. Step 1 remove the plastic bexel with your fingers, I spent about 20 minutes w/ no success, I finally went to the kitchen and got a plastic spatula and was able to get it off. The screws are on the backside of the tailgate, not on the inside as stated and require Torx T-40, not T-30. Step 2 last thing is to reinstall the rods after the handle is installed. Wont work, I had to take the screws out let the handle and powergate drop down then reinstall the rods then mount the powergate and handle. Step 3, Where am I suppose to put the Relay Loom? The directions don't give a clue as to where to put it. I stuck it between the fuse box and fender. I couldn't find any OEM wire routes to pass the wires through the firewall. I found a cable that went through with a large rubber grommet and ran it through there. I found the tan w/light green stripe and light green wires, I spent way too much time trying to attach the wire taps."

"The powergate works well so far, well see how long it lasts, although I am expecting good things. The install was pretty easy, although pulling the driver-side door panel on a brand new truck made me a little uneasy, just because I didn't want any rattles. I went slow and it turned out really nice. I like not having to worry about anything in the bed once i hit the lock button."

"whether you want to secure your cargo by using this in addition to a tonneau cover or afraid of having your tailgate stolen ( TRUST ME IT HAPPENS) which is real easy it just lifts off at an angle. It is a really great idea so go after using it u wonder why your truck didn't come with it for the factory. Much easier and simpler than the cheaper manual one. Between the money u will save on a new tailgate or cargo being stolen as well as the ease of use and no longer fearing your stuff getting jacked while u run into the store. It really is priceless!!"

"the powergate worked right the first time i tried it, you need to read the instructions a couple of times and spread the parts out to become familiar with them. i will make a bracket for the relays to keep them away from any moisture. if a 75 yr. old can do it in a couple of hours, anyone can.----very pleased"

"This product is so cool. It really did install easily once I found the wires under my dash (by the park brake...not bad really) and I'm not a mechanic or an electrician but I did it in an hour. It's secure and works beautifully with my factory keyless entry buttons. You can't go wrong."

"At first glance it looks like a poor set of instructions and very difficult to follow but if you complete one step at a time you will make it to the end with possitive results. However you will have to adjust the rods so they just make the release mark when you pull the handle all the way up."

"I had been thinking about purchasing a tailgate lock for some time, but I did not want to carry yet another key on my ever-expanding keyring. Then I found the PowerGate. I had to have it! The product arrived and I set about installing it. The instructions were clear and very simple. Once installed, it worked great. Since it is tied into my electronic locks, ensuring that my tailgate is locked is as easy as locking my truck. I highly recommend this product!"

Pace Edwards Bedlocker Tonneau Cover and Powergate

Posted on 11/28/2007 by Alan D. (Flint,TX)

"I recently purchased a Pace Edwards Bedlocker Tonneau Cover and Powergate and have had some time now to realize the benefits of this package. It has been great to be able to lock up my belongings, out of site, and have some confidence that it will be their when I return to my truck. You can lock the tailgate with the keyless entry control that comes with your vehicle. Now I have some protection when I leave my truck parked in a public place. We just returned from a trip and it was really nice to have the bed cover. It is very easily accessible with just a push of a button, and is also waterproof to keep your things dry. Although I did not install it myself, it was not too expensive to have it installed by a truck accessory shop, (about $200.00). I would Highly recommend the Pace Edwards Bedlocker Tonneau Cover and Powergate to anyone that wants the best cover on the market. I did my research and am very pleased with my purchase. Sincerely, Alan / East Texas Piney Woods"

"The installation went in fairly easy but it would help if the instructions particulalry on the wiring harness was more informative. Fortunatley my son has good experience with installing sound systems into vehicles and he figured it out pretty easily. With the powergate and a BAKFLIP tonneau cover, the bed of our truck has become very useful for secure storage."

Easy, yet time consuming to install

Posted on 04/20/2007 by Jeff N. - 2006 Dodge Ram (Simi Valley,CA)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"I read some of the other reviews before I purchased the product and the notion that the product was pretty simple yet time consuming to install was right on. On my Ram pickup, I had to spend some time laying out the components and figuring out how to route all the wires. If a friend hadn't shown up and helped me route the wires under the truck, the process would have taken considerably longer than the 4 hours I expended. Once installed, the product seems to work as promised. Just take your time and plan where everything will go before you dive in with the install."
