Nice for the money, But Problems
Posted on 02/22/2006 by R.J. W. - 2001 Ford Ranger (San Antonio,TX)

"Good for the money. Easy to roll up. Latch hard to operate. Had to add extra seal at corner by the release to give it enough "spring" to release. Called Truxedo, they were helpful. All four corners needed double the material provied for a good seal. This installation was on a Ranger, don't know if these problems would be the same on other trucks. Took me 45 minutes, could do it in 20 now that I've done it once. Looks good, no problems at 80MPH. Quick shipping from AutoAnything."

"I have had my cover for 3 weeks now. It is great.Takes about an hour to install and could do a 2nd one in 25 min. I am sure just takes time to be sure everything is correct.Instructions are good, just ready a few times before intalling."

"found this cover listed all over the web but found it at auto anything the least expensive. Not the highest quality materials but dam fine for the price. Fits nice not watertight but you really have to try to get water inside the bed once it is intalled properly. All the reviews that say it is easy to put on are true! I put it on in 35 min at night with a work light. Not bragging, its that easy. A locking latch would have been nice on both sides of the cover not just one but all in all the price was almost 1/2 of what retailers wanted and the quality is pretty good and looks like a million bucks on my truck."

"It was easy to install, except I had to shim up the corner with the latch to get it to catch.
The latch seems cheap but I've not had any problems with it yet."

Truxedo TruXport Roll-Up Tonneau Cover

"Installation was easy, even by myself.I think the design could be better for a more even fit. Just put it on a few days ago so don't have anything to say about durability. The velcro strip on the sides should be the 1" version, but it's not worth all the extra money to jump to the low profile to get it.the mfg should offer it on both models.
Good looking weather seal on the rails. I added a piece of 3/4" weather stripping on the corners of the bed because I have a bedliner and that's where the leaks were in the few complaints I saw in the other reviews.
Haven't tried the tension adjusters yet as it is very cold here. Will wait untill the temp. moderates a bit.I hope the wrinkles flatten out after awhile.
The only real complaint I have is when the boxes showed up,(I ordered two),BOTH boxes had one end of them ripped open.Needs better packaging from the factory."

"The quality of the cover was pretty good. The install was very easy and quick. The only issue that I have is that the images on the website show that the cover completly covers the bed from corner to corner, and on my F-250 it does not. There is about 2" on the top side rails of the bed that are not covered. The cover also allows a little bit of water to collect in the center when it rains. In summary, I would say this is a very good cover for the price."

"Cover met my expections.. Easy to install and fit perfect except for 1/2 gap between front of bed and roll-up rail. A 1/2x1/2 foam weather seal from Home Depot fixed the problem.. Not a big deal.. Nice neat looking cover. Now if you could make a cover with a cut-out that surrounds the 5th wheel hitch, a louverd tail-gate would not be needed. Lining the edge of the cover with velcro would allow it to be removed when not towing the 5th wheel. I've fabricated my own and it does save about 1MPG... Problem is, I have to roll-up my Trux and roll-down my secondary cover. This item is needed on the market.. I suggest you get your vendor to design and sell same exclusively.."

"I had an estimate for $1257.00 to install a locking retractable cover and I would have to remove my bed liner befor install. I shopped your site and chose the truXport even though I was worried that It wouldn't work with the bedliner. It came , I saw (the instructions)and I conqured the instal with the bedlinner in place in 1/2 hour. I could'nt be more satisfied. Now if I could only get flor mats."

"This cover is exactly what I wanted. Installation was a snap, although it took 30 mins not the advertised "little as 15". The fit is great and ease of operation simple. I would rate it five star except I had to modify each corner with additonal sealer to get a water tight fit. Was not hard just an added inconvience. Other than that it is an outstanding value."

"This cover looks great on my 02 Ram shortbed. It has the good looks of a hard cover with the versatility of a soft cover. The velcro fasteners instead of the old style snaps makes all the difference. The way the bows are attached to the cover make it real simple to go from covered to uncovered. The only complaint is that the installation instructions should have been more clear about how far to put the cover back in order to clear the tailgate. Great product, I am very satisfied!"

"Cover was very easy, and quick to install.
Has good fit and looks. The only drawback is that they should give you some thicker foam pads for the corners.I had to go out and buy peel and stick foam tape. Aside from that it's great."
