"I have enjoyed this cover. I like the fact that it is easy to put on and to take off if needed. The only thing is that if you have it flipped back and you are hauling something in back that doesn't go up against the cover, it will try to come back down with you. It is good because I washed the truck and water didn't get into the bed. I think that I will really enjoy this. Thank you"

Ingenious Product With A Couple of Small Shortcomings
Posted on 06/05/2007 by Edward M. - 2005 GMC Canyon (Las Vegas,NV)
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.
"For the price, this is an exceptional product. It looks great, is easy to use, and provides protection as well as security for my belongings (I work in IT so I'm sometimes traveling around with $10-20,000 worth of equipment). Though the instructions are just as bad as other folks on here have warned, the cover really is easy to install once you lay all the parts out and stare at them for a while. I only had an issue with two things:
1. The instructions call for a certain size drill bit to make holes for the 4 screws that attach the cover to the rails. Unfortunately, the size of the screws seems to have changed, and the hole was much small than it needed to be which lead to much re-drilling with larger bits and a fair amount of swearing as the screws were a bear to get in. Once I was able to actually get them through the drilled holes it was fine, but the process was not fun.
2. They supply two drainage tubes each about 2 feet in length that attach at the front of the bed near the cab to drain water. I'm still a bit perplexed as to what I'm supposed to do with these as I don't have any drain holes (at least not ones nearly long enough to allow for the size of the tubes) and they are hardly long enough to read the end of the bed to drain out the back. Maybe I missed some subliminal message in the convoluted instructions supplied so if someone wants to clue me in that would be great.
3. I live in the desert southwest, and I'm mildly concerned about the affect the extreme heat is going to have on the rubber seals after a couple of summers. I guess we'll just have to see.
Overall, I think this is a great product; it looks great on my GMC Canyon, is easy to use, and is one of the best, most cost-effective solutions I have seen. The customer service from autoanything.com has been exceptional and I will be using them as my default auto accessory source."

"This item fit right into our 07 Tacoma without a problem. You do have to drill a couple of holes, but not into the truck, but into the mounting hardware provided. The cover looks great and was easy to install. A little pricey at the begining, but unlike other covers, this one should last for years to come. I didn't buy the locking tailgate kit at the begining, but within a week of installing the tonneau I ordered the lock and completed the install in no time at all. Maybe 1 1/2 hours total for the both of them. It looks professional and is extremely functional. Much better than a hinged tonneau or just a light fabric top."

"I received the cover as advertised, great looking and installed within an hour. This is a very functional and clever design that fits the Toyota rail system without any drilling into the truck. Sleek looking and I am sure it will reduce drag and improve gas mileage."

"Nice looking top which installed easily (instructions were very poor but the idea was obvious). Two problems: first, the drain lines supplied were very much too big for the drain holes in the Colorado bed - needed to change tube size, and second, the rubber strips along the sides of the top have bumps at the folds which do not go away (even after days in the sun) and allows small leaks into the bed."

COVER GREAT-HARDWARE & INST POOR
Posted on 05/24/2007 by Ransom E A. - 2007 Toyota Tacoma (Lake Dallas,TX)

"Bought cover for '07 Tacoma Dble Cab 5ft bed. Hardware is inferior and not suited for this vehicle with the angled top rails. Corrected by installing large thin 1 1/4" washers btwn factory rails and BAK side rails. This allows for square fit of cover. Wrong bolts for side plates were replaced with common 1/4X20X11/4" bolts. This allowed flush tightening of bolts to plates and plates to side rails. Put foam rubber behind side plates to hold them to side rails for easy nut installment. Shud come with tailgate lock for high price."

"I recently installed the BAK Bakflip cover on my 2005 F-150. So far I am pretty happy with it. A lot of people have commented on how much they like it. The thing I like most is the flush appearance when the cover is closed. It is also very easy to operate. The installation was pretty easy. It is alot easier with two people. The only problem I had was that the shims for the mounting rails were too thick. I wound up making my own out of some leftover plastic storage box dividers. I did have some water get in when I washed my truck and when it rained. I think this is mainly due to the large gaps between the tailgate and the bedsides, not the cover itself. I plan on adding some weather stripping to this area. I do have one complaint with Autoanything and that is that it took 4 weeks for me to get my cover. I called about it a few times, they were polite and kept me informed of the order status. I think they had a delay in getting my cover from their supplier. While it was annoying that it took so long, I would probably buy from them again because of the low price."

"I recieved my product in great condition, layed it all out, installed it and flipped it up to install the lift shocks. No problems, excellent product. The only bad thing is I bought one for my other truck from another supplier, before I found autoanything.com. I paid $100 more for it at that site. From now on its autoanything...or nothing ! Thanks !"

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.
"Measured on the 270 mile run between Nashville and Cincinnati, my '05 1/2 ton Sierra with the aluminnum block V8 would average 18mpg at 75mph. After BAKflip was installed, it got exactly 19.5mpg at the same average speed. On the return trip, I averaged 85mph, which was typically 16.5mpg - the truck now got 18.3mpg. Save to say that BAKflip will improve fuel consumption by 8%-12%.
The BAKflip is decently made, seems sturdy enough. Installation instructions are poorly detailed but the product can be easily figured out. The drain tubes were too large for the bed drain holes but that was fixed with 1 foot of next-size-smaller tubing, 2 hose clamps, adhesive chaulk and black electrical tape. An annoying detour that cost less than $5.
The BAK flip looks good and it looks even better if combined with tube style bed rails."

"I bought this for a 2005 Quad cab Dakota. Since I only had the 3.7 V6, I wanted to save some weight over the traditional full bed caps. This only weighed 25-30 pounds and saved over a 100 lbs. in towing weight.
Because of the factory bed liner there were a few corners that left small gaps to fill with weather stripping (or black duct tape). Also the tailgate protector and liner had to be removed in order for the latches at the tailgate to operate easily. Depending on your vehicle, trimming some pieces off may work just as well.
Without the bed liner, I suspect it would have fit perfectly with minimal adjustments. I'm sure this will vary from vehicle to vehicle.
It took about 90 minutes to install (20-30 minutes for the side rails, then almost an hour to place it and drill the holes). Once in place, it looks great and works exactly as advertised. Some of the rubber strips were loose upon delivery, but stayed in place after I stuck them back. It's watertight and easy to use.
I'm extremely pleased with the clean look and would buy another one without hesitation."
