There are 2 problems with traditional tonneau covers: they block cargo access or they don't provide enough security. BAK solves both these age-old problems with the G2 version of the BAKFlip Tonneau Cover. Flip it back for total bed access and rear window protection, or fold it forward and lock it in place for a solid defense against thieves.
Tonneaus are constantly exposed to harsh weather, so the BAKFlip is built to withstand Mother Nature's wrath. Each panel's crafted from a 1/2" thick EPS core bonded on both sides to a tough aluminum exterior. The structure is 100% weather-resistant and strong enough to support 300 lbs of distributed weight. Plus, your BAKFlip never fades, warps or cracks.
You won't flip out installing your BAKFlip Tonneau Cover G2 Version. Just a few minutes and a few hand tools are all it takes to clamp your new tonneau cover into your truck's bed. Plus, the BAKFlip's low profile fits inside the bed rails to eliminate MPG-robbing wind drag. 1-year warranty.

I can now lock and secure the tools etc that are in the bed of my truck, my tailgate locks. In addition when I load and unload my bass boat I can slide across the cover rather that have to balance on the trailer tongue and bumper of my truck to jump across the water to land on dry land rather than walking in the water. This is especially good on cold winter days.

I love the look and it took about 15 minutes to install. One thing I did notice is if you have the bed extender rack for your Nissan the middle rakc clamps will limit the sliding it all the way back or all the way to the front. I keep mine at the back and fold it out over the tailgate if need so it was not a big deal, but my wife keeps hers all the way to the front of the truck and doesn't really use it. But now if she wanted to she would have to loosen the two middle clamps to move it.

Directions are a little vague but with a little mechanical know how and taking your time looking at it all it all came together in about 1 1/2 hrs. It's a lot lighter than my old fiberglass cover which I love. I like that this cover is EASY to fold up when you want to haul something big that needs the cover off or folded up some.

It was super easy to install and looks great. I did test it out by walking on top (200 lbs) of it and it held up great and felt sturdy. The front weatherseal and drain tracks work perfectly at keeping everything inside my bed completely dry. With the cover folded to a third it makes for a great bench for watching fireworks and tailgating. I highly recommend this cover.

How secure is the locking mechanism on this cover- do i have to take it somewhere to be painted or does it come is a paint color to match (White)
Answered by Nathan S. — Apr 17, 2013 8:33 AM
Hi Bruce, The BAKFlip relies on a locking tailgate for security and only come in one color, black. Any painting done to it would have to be completely custom and from your end.

hello im looking to buy a bakflip g2 but not sure what size. i have the (non extended bed) option should i choose the short bed option or the standard? thanks
Answered by Nathan S. — Mar 05, 2013 8:28 AM
Hi, That whittles it down to two bed sizes: 5" and 6.2". Your best bet is to grab a tape measure and check distance in between the inside of the bed by the cab and the inside of the tailgate. This measurement can be +/- a few inches.

I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma extended cab. I am looking for a Tonneau cover for my truck. I have a truck bed liner. Do you have a product that is compatible with having a truck bed liner ? Thank you, Jim
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 19, 2013 7:45 AM
Hi Jim, Our tonneau covers will work with liners that do not go over the bed rails. If you have a liner that does go over, you will have to cut notches for the tonneau cover clamps to reach the bed lip.

not sure which length to order. Going on 2012 Raptor, i believe it has 5 1/2' bed but not sure what cargo management system is
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 18, 2013 9:58 AM
Hi Kent, A cargo management system is a series of rails inside of the bed with moveable cargo hold-down points. Also, keep in mind that a 5 1/2" bed can actually measure anywhere between 5' 4" to 5' 8".

Hi Al, The cover is designed to fit your Tacoma depending on the bed length without drilling.

Does this cover have a lock to lock it down to the tailgate so that the cover and tailgate are locked together to prevent theft of my items in the bed of the truck?
Answered by Nathan S. — Jan 25, 2013 11:37 AM
Hi, The cover doesn't have it's own locking mechanism, so a tailgate lock is recommended.

Just purchased 2012 GMC crew cab. It has Rhino sprayed in bed liner, sprayed over the rails, also equipped with the new standard GMC tail gate protector. Question will a aluminum bak flip seal between these surfaces and do you have to open cover to open and shut tail gate?

Hello, I saw on the video that there are drain tubes that channel the water in the front. Where does that water go? Does it drain into the bed or out of the bed? Thanks!
Answered by Paul C. — Dec 04, 2012 2:28 PM
Depending on your truck I've read you may have to drill holes through the bed. Some trucks have pre-drilled holes (my Ram 1500 does). It just empties it under the truck.

Can I still use my deckrail if I install this cover?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Aug 07, 2012 11:28 AM
Hello. The BAK BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover will come with the hardware hit to mount to the deckrail system. You will not have to take it off, however where the C clamps mount to the deckrail you will lose the ability to slide the cleat through that spot, as the cleat would hit the C clamp. Thank you for your question.

I have 2 questions (1) I have a 2012 Nissan frontier 5ft bed with Utili side tracks for tie down.Do the cover rail clamps fit above these ,there is only about 1"space in that area.(2) Because these panels are made out of alluminum ,during heavy rains when driving are they noisy.
Answered by Anonymous — Jan 25, 2012 9:56 AM 2012 Nissan Frontier
Emil, I have the same truck and was wondering the same thing myself. According to the BakFlip web site http://www.bakfliptonneaucover.com/g2_models_and_price_list the cover does not interfere with the Utili track system. I'm gonna order one today and let you know how it fits.

Based upon aerodynamics while driving,is there a possibility that air can flow underneath a folded panel and re-flip it? What would prevent air from re-flipping a panel?
Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2012 11:15 AM
The cover is too heavy when folded for the air to lift and has detents on the panel brackets. We commonly sell this product to customers pulling a fifth wheel and want to partially cover their beds with no issues.

It is a Toyota factory cargo management system that sits directly under the bed rails of the truck. Look for long rails with sliding tie downs.

I am considering a BAK G2 for my 2012 Honda Ridgeline. Is there a tailgate locking kit? Will my under bed storage still be accessible? My main concern is the ability to lock the tailgate when the BAK is fully closed.
Answered by Michael K. — Dec 30, 2011 1:34 PM
Hi Bill, the BAK G2 latches on the inside of your truck bed. So, if you can lock your tailgate, the Tonneau cover is essentially locked, since the latch is in the bed. The easiest way to lock your tailgate is with the Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock: http://www.autoanything.com/hitch-bed-accessories/60A2797A0A0A3416452.aspx

Can you still get the spare out of the Honda Ridgeline's "trunk" with the rails of the G2 installed? How much of the clearance is blocked? Thanks.
Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2012 11:19 AM
You will retain all your bed space under the bed rail level. Once folded up against the cab, the cover will stack to about 10" thick, but it will not effect bed useage.

How much does the cover weigh?
Answered by Jordan C. — Nov 09, 2010 10:54 AM
Hey W, The weight of the tonneau cover is going to vary depending on the length of your rig's bed (an 8' tonneau will naturally have some extra heft than the 6' 6" version). I don't have the specific weights for both, but the shipping weight is 75 lbs, so they'll be close to that weight, give or take a few pounds.
