Meet BAK’s most advanced tonneau cover ever—the BakFlip F1. The dual-purpose F1 flips back for total bed access and rear window protection, then it folds forward and locks in place to keep cargo crooks and sticky fingers at bay.
What really sets the BAKFlip F1 apart from lesser tonneaus is the high-tech construction and design. BAK takes a super-rigid EPS core, sandwiches it with fiberglass-reinforced polymer on top and an epoxy-coated aluminum on bottom. This makes the F1 35% stronger than its younger cousin, the BAK G2, and far superior to most tonneaus on the market.
100% weather-resistant and strong enough to support up to 400 lbs of distributed weight, your BAKFlip never fades, warps or cracks. Plus, the seamless EPDM rubber hinges are leak proof and designed to outlive your truck.
Don’t worry, installing your BAKFlip F1 won't flip you out. Just a few minutes and a few hand tools are all it takes to top your truck's bed. Plus, the low profile fits right inside your bed rails to eliminate mileage-robbing wind drag. Best yet, BAK’s got your back with a flippin’ awesome 2-year warranty.
Our 160+ BAK BAKFlip F1 Tonneau Cover customer reviews have an average rating of 4.50 out of 5 stars. To see specific reviews about your vehicle, please select your year, make and model from the drop down above.

This cover looks great and allows more functional use of the bed without having to leave the cover at home if you need to transport something higher than the bed sides. The only complaint I have is that this has some areas were leaks can occur, specifically in the first panel close to the cab of the truck. I installed the rubber gasket on the front bed rail and had a small gap on each side which allowed water to leak in. This was mostly resolved by adding some additional gasket to the sides.

The cover came very nicley packed, I ordered it with the tool box and the tool box did not fit, I'm still waiting on them to get back to me about that? But the cover itself is great!

As a man, this cover's functionality is what I always desire out of a purchase. Install is relatively easy, but it takes some adjustments to make it work with a factory drop-in bedliner.

The BAK BAKFlip F1 is great it has everything going for it. Works easily I will tell everyone about! Better instruction on installing. You had to read between the lines to put it together. and from the looks of it I need to move my tonneau back by 1/2". Because when I look at the tonneau and to break in take a wire hook at the 1/2" hole opening and pop up the tonneau to get in. It does not say to keep it back enough to keep that from happening. Fits great. Installation time took less than 1 hr, including unpacking and cleaning up. It kept the bed dry so far after a big thunder storm over night. Instructions can use some help though.

The tent was easy to set up and there is plenty of room inside, including headroom. The tent is great for a one night stay; however, the tent must be struck if you want to drive your vehicle. This is inconvenient if you are camping for multiple nights and need the use of the vehicle.

I have a '12 Tundra Platinum with a rail system. If I buy this product, 1) Do I order under with or without rail system and 2) will it work with my existing rail system. Just want to be confident and sure that I'm buying the right product at the right price and I won't have to deal with returns or anything of the sort. Thanks in advance.

Does this tonneau cover require drilling into the bedliner?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Aug 13, 2012 4:21 PM
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The majority of our tonneau covers will be compatible with factory bed liners, as long as it is not an “over-the-rail” bed liner. These are one-piece liners that wrap over the top of the bedrails. In those cases, and in the rare case a standard liner prevents clamping, notches can be cut in the bed liner to make room for the clamps. I have not seen any manufacturer suggest drilling while installing covers. Hope that helps.

I have had flip tonneau's and as I can recall they claim to be "weather proof". If there are openings above the bed opening then they have leaked. Only solid tonneau's which lie over the side of the bed have kept contents dry. How does the F1 keep from leaking with the rubber seal? I keep literature and cardboard boxed items in my bed and would prefer a flip type over the full tonneau. Is there fine print here for waterproof?

How much room is there measuring vertically from the bed to the closed cover of the F1 on my '06 Ridgeline? That would be measuring from the bed floor up to the lowest point of the closed cover.

Is there a key lock equipped with this product that locks the it down when Tailgate is fastened?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jul 06, 2012 12:52 PM
Hi PV, there is no key lock; however, the latch can only be accessed from your truck bed. So, if your tailgate is locked, the tonneau is essentially locked.

Does anybody have any photos of the F1 installed on a 2012 Ram. I'm interested in looking at how it seals to the tailgate. Thanks

I am removing the factory bed rail caps and installing Line X over the rails. Will the Bak F1 still have a good sill? In the reviews some say your product leaks. Have you addressed this problem?

can the cover be locked down after flipping it open to the front, but not flipping it all the way up against the window? In other words locked down when folded but still flat. thank you
Answered by Michael K. — Apr 23, 2012 1:52 PM
Hi Gary, yes, the BAKFlip locks to the bed at every panel, so before evry hinge there's a latch.

Could this product be used with pulco's bed rails
Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2012 11:23 AM
The BakFlips seals come over the top of the bedrail, so depending on your truck, this may obscure the stake holes. I would imagine you would have more clearance to work with if you were to use a set of bed rails that requires drilling. Just measure first before ordering.

My question is can this still be installed with a full ladder rack on the truck "Trac-Rac" or will I need to remove it to use. I am looking for something that would work like this to load my Harley by pushing the Rack fully forward and still be able to have the security when needed in the bed area. Thanks for your time
Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2012 11:25 AM
The cover will have seals which overlap the bed rails about 1/2". Also factor in the style of ladder rack as well. If it tapers towards the center of the bed on top, you may have clearance issues when folding your BakFlip.

what are the differences between the G2 ($677), the HD ($829)and the F1 ($928)?

Thanks! I ended up going for the G2. It looks awesome and the install was very easy. Guess I'm a little worried about hail damage but not $250 worried!

I am installing a toolbox fuel tank combo and would like to know the clearance from bottom of cover and the distance from headboard to see what lid clearance I have on toolbox when cover is flipped up. Also at times I pull a gooseneck trailer and can I secure the cover down flat above the toolbox? Carl
Answered by Nathan S. — May 03, 2012 11:28 AM
Each panel is about 2" thick and will sit flush with the bed rails. I recommend allowing 3" clearance to allow articulation of the panels. We sell a lot of these covers to customers with gooseneck hitches who want to partially cover their bed while towing and have had good success with the product.
