08 Toyota X Runner

Got this cover to specifically be able to lock my bed up on my truck. The fire department I work for has these on the chief vehicles and they work great for them. Decided to get one for my truck. So far I must say I love it, pretty easy to install. I had my wife help me set it on my rails but that was all, the rest I was able to do myself. All I need now is to put some tailgate seals for along the bedsides to make it completely water tight. Cover is great so far.

can improve on instruction

Reviewed By ray n (Torrance, CA) Reviewed for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma —5/19/2008 6:54 AM

Like other report, instruction were poor it would have been nice to see a list of parts and discription in the box left rail, rt. rali, screws washers etc.. I ended up with a piece of felt, had no idea where it went. called the factory and was told that item was not needed. I had a problem with the square plate/bolt and nut assembly as it got loose having to remove both side rails 2X to tighen the nut. I added a drop of locktite to solve that problem, the powder coating on the cover could have been a harder material as I got a few scratches. The installation was fairly easy. Looks good as adverstised need to wait for the rain to check out leakage.

2017 Tacoma Short Bed

Reviewed By Mark F (HONOLULU, HI) Reviewed for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma —11/14/2016 9:25 PM

I think it would have been much easier to install if there had been a video to commensurate the poorly written instructions. The width between the rails in the instructions was also wrong, I had to use 52" wide in order for the cover to operate correctly. Lastly, when installed the canister cover, the screw holes did not line up. I had to use a longer screw to attach directly into the plastic supports.
