BAK Roll-X Tonneau Cover Customer Reviews

They might look the same, but the difference between a genuine Swiss watch and a back alley trench coat counterfeit is more than skin deep. The same holds true for tonneau covers. Give your truck bed the timeless style and precision function of a fine timepiece with the BAK Roll-X Tonneau Cover.
Crafted from heavy-duty hinged aluminum panels covered in premium-grade vinyl, this ingenious tonneau is like nothing else on the road. You get the look of a classic tonneau, the security of a hard cover and the full bed access of a folding top—all in one cover.
The clever design not only boasts a nearly invisible profile, it rolls or folds up from both the tailgate and cab side for complete bed access. And, this rolling tonneau shoulders a hefty 400 lbs, though it weighs in at a featherweight 45 lbs. And best yet, BAK backs your Roll-X Tonneau Cover with a 1-year warranty.
Our 10+ BAK Roll-X Tonneau Cover customer reviews have an average rating of 4.50 out of 5 stars. To see specific reviews about your vehicle, please select your year, make and model from the drop down above.

First off I should mention that the cover is constructed out good materials, but the small details are of poor craftsmanship. The handles that lock in the cover are flimsy, and doesnt lock right. The blk cover came covered w smudged white paint in the corner on the soft leather material. Customer service people were terrible. No apologies for the defective part that took a week to get to me. They promised fed-ex overnight, told me that Fed-ex lost the item. ok! Would not recommend! Disappointed!

The Roll-X was easy to install. The instructions were ok, but the UTube video was VERY helpful. The company included shims with the shipment by NO instructions as to how & where to install them. I haven't installed them and the top working ok but I haven't thrown them away.

I was actually dreading this install but once I started, I was finished and couldn't believe how easy it was. I even went back through everything to be sure I had installed it correctly and still took only 20 minutes. Have not ridden in the truck yet with it, but from the appearance of it, it fits well, looks great and seems to be the perfect tonneau cover. I even had the wife come to the garage and undo it and roll it up with no problems. Hope it holds up as well as it fits and looks.

VERY solid and well made. Locks into place very securely. At only $5 more than the 2 stake pocket anchor points that I also ordered, you are getting excellent value. I got the black one, looks sharp. I highly recommend.

Purchased the Bak Roll-X for my 2011 F150 super cab with 6 1/2 foot bed. Install went fairly smoothly even though I have light bar mounted behind the cab. Some adjustments had to be made to accommodate the mount but nothing major. The Roll-X works well and looks great. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to secure anything in the bed of their truck.

Sharp looling, easy to install, operates great and extremely functional without sacrificing bed space. However, I was informed in the chat session that the cover does not leak, but due to the design of the Silverado tailgate fin, water is leaking into the bed thru the recessed channels in the top of the fin.

Very easy installation, great fit on my Silverado, and it looks fantastic! I am sure it will protect my gear for years to come. Very minor weatherproofing in the corners accomplished with ease by provided weather strip. Bak did it right on this one. I have owned several bed covers before, but none measure up to the roll x. Do yourself a favor, spend the money and get a good cover like this one.

By far the best looking and functional cover on the market . Super clean and so far no leakage. Installed it myself in about an hour. Fit my new 2013 F150 Platinum perfectly. Nice to install something that actually fit and installed as advertised. Only small gripe is they gave me some older instructions that didn't match some of the modifications they have made to improve the product. Still highly recommended! Rick G.

Would have gotten 5 stars if there were installation instructions included with the cover. Went to YoubTube to find out how to install. Very simple once you know how. Love the cover.

I watched the videos and did not see a mention about water "tightness". My Frontier will be out in the rain & snow, so this is a major concern. I have just started looking, is there a better option for me?

I've noticed with your Bak roll-x tonneau cover that it's being installed on a truck without a bed liner. I have a bed liner in mine and am not sure how I would install it considering that I don't have access to the bed rail lip like you do on the truck in the video sample. Can this tonneau cover be installed on my truck without removing the bed liner or are there some modifications that I would need to do to it?
Answered by Nathan S. — Feb 08, 2013 2:51 PM
Hi, You would have to cut notches into the liner to allow the clamps to access the bed rail lips.

I've been trying to decide on either the bakflip f1 and the new bakflip roll-x. Yet, i can't find any reviews on the bakflip roll-x yet. Has anyone or know anyone who has purchased a roll-x yet. Plus, what is your opion on the roll-x.
