Tonneau Covers for Everyone

When asked to define the beauty of America, some may point to freedom. Others may tout our right to self-expression. But, what it really comes down to is choice. The American marketplace is a reflection of that freedom of choice, offering countless varieties of similar products that cater to our diverse make-up. More so than any other business (other than the clothing industry), the auto industry is famous for its custom-tailored components that enable auto enthusiasts to build something completely unique. Take tonneau covers for example.

Available in numerous varieties that include hard tonneau covers, a folding tonneau cover or a hinged tonneau cover, each achieves pretty much the same end. They protect your truck bed (and its cargo) from the elements of Mother Nature and theft. In doing so, tonneau covers transform your truck bed into a secure safe on wheels, removing the worry that often accompanies hauling around valuable tools and other gear.

Another major benefit is the bump they provide in fuel efficiency. As air passes over your cab, it flows into your empty truck bed, producing “opposite force” (more commonly known as drag). Closed-air truck beds offer lower air resistance, creating a faster, more energy-efficient truck that can easily save several miles worth of gas on every trip. In fact, the aerodynamic efficiency of a Silverado tonneau cover, F150 tonneau cover, Dodge tonneau covers, or those like them has been shown to extend gas mileage by up to 10 percent!

Also known as truck bed covers, a truck tonneau cover has to be extremely durable to withstand the constant abuse that often accompanies hauling things from one place to the next. Fiberglass or hard tonneau covers are popular for this reason. They’re also much sturdier in construction and can be locked, allowing you to easily secure your cargo when you step away. The one downside is that hard tonneau covers are much heavier than the soft-top or roll-up tonneau variety and often require gas struts to assist in opening and closing. They also limit the amount of cargo you can haul in the bed and often have to be removed to transport oversize items. But on style alone, they’re unmatched. If you’re building a show truck or don’t haul large loads, a fiberglass tonneau makes the perfect finishing touch to your exterior. Plus, they’re either painted or come paint-ready to match your truck, unlike soft covers which are usually only available in black.

While you’re dressing up your appearance, don’t forget about truck bed liners. Constructed of five separate pieces that fit together in minutes, truck bed liners provide the appearance of spray-in liners with the ease of simply laying them down in your truck bed like a carpet. Plus, like any of the custom-made tonneau covers, truck bed liners are computer designed to fit your truck bed’s specific shape and size without obstructing its factory tie-downs.

Dodge accessories like Extang tonneau covers provide the perfect union of form and function. They offer one of the easiest and most impressive upgrades to the appearance of your exterior while delivering the peace of mind that goes with knowing your gear will be there when you get back.
