Great hitch - damaged by lousy re-packaging

"Nice looking, well built. BUT: (1) had to use a pry bar to to get mounting holes lined up; (2) ordered hitch mount and ball with receiver - receiver box had been opened to ship mount and ball in same box and box was not properly refastened. Box came open during shipping and hitch was scratched. Mount and ball also secured to hitch bar with plastic wrap and left rub marks on hitch finish. A little padding (cardboard or bubble wrap) would have prevented this. A little more care would have made a happy customer."

Good but not great on a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo

"I should disclaim that at the price point my expectations weren't very high, and by that measure the hitch is outstanding. In an absolute sense, however, the fit isn't perfect on the driver's side and there is inference with the exhaust on the passenger's side. The driver's side issue is livable, the passenger's side problem required a slight bend to the factory exhaust and some clearancing (with an angle grinder) to the hitch itself. The instructions leave out some useful details - for example, there is virtually zero access through the passenger side frame rail to install one of the bolts. My strong advice to anyone installing the hitch is to have a long, flexible magnet available - it will make installation much, much easier. Overall, a good value and AutoAnything's shipping can't be beat. I got a hitch installed on my girlfriend's truck for under $200 - including the wiring - and it took less than an hour to install plus another thirty minutes for the needed adjustments. I'm happy with the choice I made - I got what I needed quickly and with minimal pain, and I never had to give the keys to a UHaul employee. :)"

"Got the hitch within 2 days of ordering it. The hitch was in perfect shape and took all of 10 minutes to install. Easiest hitch to install ever! Put 2 bolts in the bumper and it hangs and lets your swing to get the other 4 bolts. Everything lined up and went on perfect. Used it the same day and had no problems at all. Def recommend this hitch to anyone!"

"I have another brand on my 2003 Hyundai Sonata. This hitch seems to be better quality. Perfect fit for my 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The only difficulty was working around the vehicle itself. Manufacturers never make it easy for the average owner to perform any work on the vehicles. Otherwise it was easy to install and looks and feels sturdy."

"This is a really nice hitch. Good quality and heavy duty. The shipment was really fast. I had it two days after I ordered it. The bolt holes lined up perfectly. Installation would have been a quick and easy except for on these stupid Chrysler Sebrings you have to drop the exhaust down to put the hitch on. Overall it took about 4 hrs to install."

"My Curt receiver came quickly. It is built very well and easy installation. Four bolts simple lined up to welded threaded nuts on the frame of my Chevy traverse. Little problem around the muffler but nothing major. Only suggestion would be is to put a welded piece on the hitch to attach the t- connector."

Curt receiver hitch doesn't fit

"2 of the 4 bolt slots are out of alignment and the receiver hitch cannot be correctly installed as is. I will have to grind or cut the slots in order to install all 4 bolts. The material and design are good but the mounting flanges shifted out of line when welded.

"This hitch installed without issue. I was able to install it curb side with simple tools. I imagine if I had a lift and air tools this job would have taken 20/30 mins, instead I lost about and hour (only because of some rusted vehicle bolts.) I would definitely recommend Curtis hitches."

"I am pleased with my hitch. It works perfect. The only complaint is that when ordering, I asked if it comes with the wiring for the electrical. If it did not, I wanted to order that also. I was informed it came with it and as you can guess, when I got it; no wires. I then, had to find that. Otherwise, I guess all is well.

"I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander. It had a bracket on each side taking up 4 of the 6 holes needed to connect this. I tried to loosen them myself but couldn't. I am a single mom who tries to do things myself whenever possible. So I had to take my car to a shop where they charged me a hour of labor to remove those and install the hitch. Hey the drove me home and picked me up so I figured it was worth it even tho it didn't take them an hour. It looked like the hitch would interfere with my spare tire but it doesn't. I am happy so far. Hope to use if with a bike rack I plan to buy next on from this website."

A nice Hitch, easy to install except the drilling part
Posted on 05/21/2009 by James D. - 2009 Mazda 5 (Pembina,ND)

"Autoanything shipped the hitch out promptly. Installation is very straight forward, which includes enlarging 2 holes on the metal bumper structure and fixing the hitch to the body frame/bumper structure with 4 bolts. It took me almost an hour to drill the holes -- but I guess I should blame the 1/2" drill bit I bought from Home Depot (the cheapest one). After that it's a 20-minute work.
I have put the hitch into any real use yet, but it looks very sturdy and hides nicely under the bumper of my Mazda 5."

"This hitch has a very nice finish that looks like it will not turn to rust like so many hitches do in midwest winters. The receiver is not below the cross bar as in the photo and therefore the whole hitch is visable. They do have a disclaimer stating that the photo may not be of the application ordered. I haven't found any hitches that have hidden application for my vehicle. It appears to be well made and looks better than the competition. Delivery was prompt and sales reps were great. I'm very satisfied with my purchase."
