CR-V design is the problem

Posted on 11/05/2008 by Steve M. - 2008 Honda CR-V (Madison,WI)

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful.

"While the Curt hitch installs easily (enlarging the subframe holes requires the right tools, and getting the muffler hangers off the car is intimidating), the hook at the base of the bumper on the CR-V makes the whole thing look strange. Curt provides a bolt to attach the hook to the hitch, but it still looks odd."

Very Easy Install

Posted on 10/22/2008 by Raymond G. - 2006 Chevy HHR (Ocala,FL)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"I was a little nervous when the hitch came, but an hour later it was on my car and ready to go. I was very happy with the directions and the ease of the install. Also I bought the curt light hook-up wire and it was a plug in install with no tools needed. Thanks for a great product and by the way I saved $150.00 on an install by doing it myself."

Satisfied but confused!!

Posted on 10/18/2008 by Armando R. - 2008 Mitsubishi Raider (Henderson ,NV )

"The trailer hitch I received for my 2008 Raider is not what is pictured above. The hitch I received is about 12 inches wide, 10 inches deep and 10 inches high. When I received this smaller version hitch, my first thought was maybe it comes in two separate shipments. After reading the installation instructions and looking at the nuts and bolts assembly kit, I installed it and the hitch works just fine."

"for Xterra, 2004. The hitch fit exactly, all parts were present, and installation instructions were perfectly clear. I used the spare tire and wood blocks to hold the hitch in position while I inserted the bolts, otherwise might have been difficult without a helper."

MUCH BETTER AND EASIER THAN EXPECTED

Posted on 10/14/2008 by Steve F. (New Cumberland,PA)

"The hitch I recieved was the class III from Curt Manufacturing. The quality of the powdercoating and appearance was excellent. The delivery was blazing fast. Installation was good. Be advised that the RAV's exhaust location and size, makes it tricky to torque down the bolt furthest from the bumper. Before purchase, I checked with 2 local dealerships (PA & DE), who quoted $500-$675 higher and wanted the vehicle for 2-3 hours for install! I have NEVER done anything like this before and I am all thumbs mechanically, but I would tell anyone to do it themselves, just have a good quality torque wrench and 20 minutes. Great job AUTOANYTHING!"

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"Sturdy, well constructed hitch that has done the job quite well. Installation was fairly easy once I lowered the spare. The holes did not match perfectly, so it took a little more work to get it installed than initially anticipated. With a little help from a floor jack, it was a one man, 30 minute installation."

Honda delSol hitch

Posted on 10/07/2008 by Robert S. - 1993 Honda Del Sol (Slinger,WI)

"Hitch installed easily enough but more than the 45 minutes. Didn't like the notion of cutting my plastic bumper but that wasn't too bad once done & since this hitch was the only one I could find for my delSol I didn't have a choice. I like the removable ball feature & overall I am a very happy camper with my trailer hitch."

"The Curt Receiver Hitch arrived in record time. The directions were easy to follow and all parts easy to identify. The installation took 2 hours due to having to remove the Tacoma's rear bumper. When installing the hitch have a second pair of hands to help remove and reinstall the bumper. Love the new hitch."

Scraped up and rusting as we speak

"It came scuffed up and I put it next to my garage to await install. within a week it is rusty! It costs too much to send back and my husband says it probably would have rusted eventually anyway. I AM SO TIRED OF GETTING THINGS ALREADY DAMAGED BEFORE I HAVE EVEN SEEN IT. I WOUld like to be the first person to scratch it! We live in Seattle so any scuffs are going to rust immediately!"

Good hitch, needs better shipping protection

Posted on 10/01/2008 by Wayne H. - 2008 Toyota Highlander (Potomac,MD)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"The hitch arrived in a box with 3 large holes in it where the brackets torn through. Both end of the welded brackets were bent towards the center. When trying to install, one side would be off by 2". Straightened and it installed easily. Note that the 19" spare tire now rubs against the hitch and does not raise and lower freely."

Curt Receiver Hitches Review

Posted on 09/23/2008 by Mark H. (San Diego,CA)

"We have a 2006 Turbo PT Cruiser Convertable. It didn't come with a hitch so we ordered this one online. Shipping was excellent and we recieved it in three days. You will need a rachet set to put this part on. But it was rather easy. We didn't raise the car up to do it either so it took us a little longer but it is doable this way. You must take the spare tire out as well as drop the muffler. Dropping the muffler isn't that hard either (You only need to unscrew the two parts in back of the rear axel. You don't need to unscrew the bolts in front of the rear axel. Those can be difficult to reach to put back on with a heavy muffler to support.) My wife did most of work with the exception of a few tight bolts. So it is easy to install for the most part but will take the average Joe about an Hour or so with a regular rachet set. The hitch itself is solid and fits perfectly on the car. We were very satisfied with AutoAnything for price shipping and quality. Hope this helps!"

Curt receiver hitches

Posted on 09/19/2008 by Josh M. - 2005 Chevy Blazer (Mt. Pleasant,MI)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.

"This is a very nice receiver hitch. I bought the curt round frame trailer hitch for by 2005 blazer and was very pleased. It does not come with a pad as shown in the picture for my 2005 but the fit was very nice regardless. The powder coat is pretty good-better than average and has a nice shiny black appearance. The hitch is concealed for the most part- only a little bit of the round tube frame shows on each side of the receiver. The only problem I had was that the frame on the hitch seemed to be an 1/8"-1/4" wider than my truck frame which required me to torque the mounting bolts down until the gap disappeared. I would recommend this hitch to anyone looking at hitches for their s-10 or s-10 Blazer."

"The hitch is great once I finally got it installed on my 2007 Colorado. It didn't line up perfectly, and this definitely takes 2 people to install. Otherwise, pretty good once it's on. The t-connector for the lights is available at Tractor Supply for a few dollars less."

Solid But Bent

Posted on 09/17/2008 by Michael L. - 2008 Toyota Sienna (Herndon,VA)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.

"Very solid structure. However, the flanges were bent, and therefore the holes were off more than an inch. Thought about returning it but decided to bend it with 2x4 on the floor and stomping it with my boots. Now it's a perfect fit and works like a charm. Company needs to improve quality control and/or packaging."

Good product and Fast install

Posted on 09/17/2008 by Doug P. - 2007 Jeep Commander (Schellsburg,PA)

"Took me about 30 minutes to install the hitch. Very clean appearance. Bolts where a little hard to turn. Instuction note 75lbs of torque; took more than that to turn the bolts. Other than than it went smoothly. BTW: The wire harness (seperate item) for the hitch was very easy to install also."
