CURT Receiver Hitches Part #13222 Customer Reviews

The one carriage head bolt that had to be fished through the frame was quite cumbersome. It took me 20 minutes for that bolt. Everything else was great. Thank you.

The reciever was delivery to my house in four days. I was surprised and happy to get my order so quickly, but there was one problem. One end of the box was ripped open and I noticed that one end of the reciever bracket was bent. This must have happened during shipment. I think a better packaging might have prevented this.i was able to straighten the bracket and will be installing it next week. I would have rated this five stars if it was not for the damage caused by insufficient packaging

I was reluctant to try and install myself but downloading the instruction sheet first gave me the confidence. The product came with all hardware. The special made for my vehicle was a plus. I was expecting to take parts off before installing. The holes lined up perfectly. Took about 20 minutes for this non-mechanical person.

Most of the installation was easy, although putting the washers between the hitch and frame was a challenge. Where I got stuck was trying to fish the square washer and bolt through the frame. There is quite an obstacle course in there with the welded on nut and other bolts protruding inside. I couldn't get it done. I'm going to try removing the rear bumper to see if I can get a straight line view so I can manipulate it with a long instrument.

Everything is fine. Just I didn't find it easy to install. One of the bolts I couldn't even install because I couldn't find a place for it. Anyway, I hope it will not compromise the strength of the u nit in the future.

Tough to fish the one bolt and retainer through the right hand side of the auto-body. Took as much time as the rest of the installation. It took a litle over an hour to install the hitch, not the advertised 15 minutes.

I purchased this for my 1998 Rodeo. It fits nicely and already looks like part of the vehicle. I haven't towed with it yet but it seems very sturdy and well made. I have paid others to install similar equipment before and never realized just how customized these are to a particular vehicle. Time required for install was about an hour but could have gone faster if I had staged all the correct tools in advance.
