The hitch is a perfect fit for my BMW X3. While I will only be towing a small trailer or use my bumper buddy, it is perfect and hidden under the bumper. A cut out of the bumper cover was not necessary which was even better. I did have to take the bumper cover off to install and had to replace some plastic connectors around the wheel wells after removal. A professional installation might be necessary for someone without this knowledge.

I have an old stubby '2005 Toyota RAV4 for which I had just installed a minimal 1.25" hitch receiver. For the purpose of hauling bikes on a rack behind the RAV spare tire, I needed at least a 5" extension in the receiver to clear the tire cover. I ordered the Curt 1.25" to 1.25" adapter extension in the 7' size which now clears the tire cover by 2" to avoid any bolt gouging of the cover. The Curt product is strong, has smooth welds and a quality appearance.
