CURT Trailer Hitches Reviews

2001 silverado z71

Reviewed By Joshua D (Shelbyville, IN) Reviewed for a 2001 Chevy Silverado —11/19/2017 3:45 AM

Truck had a DMI hitch, this curt hitch replaced it, pulls great 16 ft single axle patriot trailer. ~2000lbs. The DMI plate covered the holes on the bottom of the bumper which rotted the threads. Bought a 14-2 tap ($43 at Fastenal). No issues. The hitch didn't come with the hitch pin on cap. AA sent them without issue. Would recommend to a friend.

Solid, sharp-looking step

Reviewed By Matt M (Belfair, WA) Reviewed for a 2008 Chevy Silverado —11/13/2017 8:53 AM

The step itself is well-made, good looking and quite solid. The sole drawback is the "anti-rattle system" which consists of a screw down plate that holds the step tight in the hitch receiver. The threaded rod included was too short to grab and I had to remove the rubberized tip that helped the metal plate keep the step snug. It worked ok in the end, but was clearly not a focus of the design. Overall, the step itself is great. Just FYI: the lower step is 6" below the hitch receiver.

Strong Front Receiver Hitch by CURT

Reviewed By Michael D (Carlsbad, NM) Reviewed for a 2003 Chevy Silverado —10/13/2017 9:51 PM

Well made and strong! Like everything I've gotten from CURT. Fit like a glove, easy install. Instruction say you can flip the crossbar to get a higher fit. I did that and my hitch is up high and out of the way, hidden under the front bumper air dam. Did have to cut an access hole in the plastic air dam (use a multi-tool, easy job). If you feel there is too much play when inserting hitch into the receiver, get a 'Hitch Tightener Clamp". Cost about $12, will stop all movement.
