Good solid hitch, installation could be better

Reviewed By Michael T (Downers Grove, IL) Reviewed for a 2005 Honda CR-V —9/22/2013 8:08 PM

It is a very good product. but installation, not so much. The bolt heads and hardware were just a little too large to fit in the factory holes in the frame - too big by less than 1/8 inch. Rather than trying to drill the frame holes a little larger (would have required a very large bit), I just ground down the sides of the bolt heads and hardware to make it fit. Also, they could have included 1" longer rubber muffler hangers (than stock) so the muffler wouldn't rub on the new bolts.

installing on 2005 Honda CR-V

Reviewed By jonathan r (Nashville, TN) Reviewed for a 2005 Honda CR-V —7/24/2008 9:09 PM

Hitch is perfect in efficiency of design and dimensions, but the holes in the CR-V frame had to be enlarged. With the tools I have on-hand, my solution was to drill two 1/4" holes next to each frame hole and then use tin snips to connect the holes. Also, two bolts are required for these two holes, but four were supplied (without explanation), two a little shorter than the other two. You need to use a short one on the exhaust side for clearance above the muffler.
