After removing the trunk liner the wires were available to plug the T connector into the existing wiring harness. It worked as intended with no splicing.

I love the hitch it is a great product and the price is right. Although if you have a sedan like mine (2004 Mitsubishi Lancer) and intend on buying a bike rack for your hitch, keep this in mind; "clearance". What I mean is with bikes on the rack wheels drag sometimes when leaving a street to enter a parking lot or whatever. I intend on extending the vertical part of the bike rack to get plenty of clearance.

Mine was fairly simple to install but the directions were not correct. ie the directions for cutting the heat shield that applied were written for the Kia but applied to my Sonatta! There were no directions for cutting the appearance panel that were correct for my car. The bolts for attaching the hitch to the car would have been much easier to install if they were all 1/4 inch longer. I had the correct number of fasteners, however one of the 4 large nuts was for a different size bolt.
