After removing the trunk liner the wires were available to plug the T connector into the existing wiring harness. It worked as intended with no splicing.

I love the hitch it is a great product and the price is right. Although if you have a sedan like mine (2004 Mitsubishi Lancer) and intend on buying a bike rack for your hitch, keep this in mind; "clearance". What I mean is with bikes on the rack wheels drag sometimes when leaving a street to enter a parking lot or whatever. I intend on extending the vertical part of the bike rack to get plenty of clearance.

This is my 2nd Bully hitch step. The first one lasted for 10 years. The step is snap to install. Just slide it into the 2 inch receiver and pin it in place. The supplied shim eliminates rattle. I have had countless comments as to how nice the step looks on my Rav4. It is convenient to use as a step for loading items on the roof. It is a nice bumper too as it extends beyond the outward hung spare tire on the Rav4. Just be aware that you can bang your shin on it while loading the cargo area.
