Install was difficult

Reviewed By Jonathon G (Englewood, CO) Reviewed for a 2008 Nissan Xterra —9/11/2011 6:49 PM

Great looking hitch. No issues with the powder coat as others had. However the installation directions were wrong. Directions said to remove a few bolts to lower the exhaust but on the 2008 Xterra, that doesn't happen. Therefore the hitch didn't fit. I took it to the dealership and they confirmed it. They had to remove some other parts in order to make it fit.

Damaged Hitch

Reviewed By John F (Lowell, IN) Reviewed for a 2008 Nissan Xterra —4/3/2009 11:03 AM

The hitch I purchased is a very nice design. The only reason I had to put it down for its poor quality is for the fact that it was delivered with out a package.....they just slapped a FedEx sticker to the hitch and mailed it. Needless to say it was all scratched and dinged up,like the FedEx driver dragged it to my house. I had to prime and paint a new product before installing on my truck..... Other than that its a nice hitch and fits well.

CURT Front Mount Trailer Hitch Part #: 31514

Reviewed By Brian D (Lowell, IN) Reviewed for a 2005 Nissan Xterra —8/1/2016 7:14 PM

It is well built and came with the hardware and instructions. A couple of tips 1.) Spray the bolts on the factory tow hook with penetrating oil the night before to help with removal. There are holes in the frame where you spray into. 2.) Take a M12 x 1.25 rethreading/thread chaser tap and go through all the bolt holes. Especially, the two holes on the driver's side that are open to the environment and susceptible to rust and corrosion. I substituted Hex Cap bolts for the Carriage bolts.
