CURT Receiver Hitches Reviews

How to Improve a Good Product

Reviewed By KEN H (Moriarty, NM) Reviewed for a 2008 Toyota 4Runner —11/13/2009 6:50 AM

Installation of the receiver hitch on my '08 Toyota 4-Runner blocks access to the factory receptacle for the trailer lights. I modified the Toyota bracket to accomodate this. I think Curt should offer a low cost replacement receptacle bracket (basically a straightened Toyota bracket) to simplify the installation of their receiver hitch.

Bent but it works

Reviewed By Thomas Y (Belmont, NC) Reviewed for a 2008 Toyota 4Runner —4/29/2008 4:40 AM

After receiving the hitch via Fedex, I began installation later that night. I have 9 years in the RV business (3 as service manager). I was confident it would be an easy job. Unfortunately, a nut was missing from the hardware pack, one of the bolts had a different thread pitch than the car's frame nut and one of the flange's was bent which means the holes didn't line up. This 1 hour job turned into a 3 hour job as I had to locate a high grade replacement for the missing nut, tap out the existing nut welded to the frame of the car and get a volunteer to pry one of the flange arms out to line up the holes so I could get the bolts installed. None of the problems I encountered were AutoAnything.com's fault. This missing/incorrect hardware and improperly welded flange was Draw-tite's fault. (There was no missing paint to indicate shipping damage). If I had the time, I would have exchanged the hitch but I needed to use it the next day. AutoAnything.com did a great job of getting my hitch to me on time and I would buy from them again.

I needed something to protect the back of my 4Runner. The hitch step did the trick. It was easy to install and has the step as an added feature. It also looks great,
