Functional and Good Looking

Reviewed By Richard B (Soquel, CA) Reviewed for a 2000 Toyota Tacoma —5/27/2014 6:44 AM

We ordered this for use with our small camper and it works perfectly. My wife insisted that it "look nice", so several of the more boxy, clunky models competitors sell got vetoed! Matches truck nicely, and been leaving it on even when the camper's off. Provides enough step to get in and out, however the smaller step is a little narrow and tight. Won't get your toe caught though, which is good. Anti-vibration strap works on the highway but not so much on the dirt. Overall, excellent buy.

Strong hitch, good fit, but...

Reviewed By Tony H (Stafford, VA) Reviewed for a 2000 Toyota Tacoma —4/7/2009 4:02 AM

The hitch is built well, fits well, however the installation is not quite as simple as the manufacturer's instructions indicate. The hitch mounts between the frame and the bumper brackets, which means you have to completely detach the bumper brackets from the frame and the bumper, bolt the bumper brackets in place against the hitch brackets, then reattach the bumper to the bumper brackets. However, now you have a 1/2" gap (1/4" per side) between the bumper bracket attach points and the mounting points on the bumper. You either have to make your own 1/4" spacers and buy longer bolts or bend the mounts into place. From a company like Curt, I found this disappointing. The manufacturer should have provided longer replacement bumper mounting bolts and spacers (4 each) and included this process in the instructions.
