Strong hitch, good fit, but...

The hitch is built well, fits well, however the installation is not quite as simple as the manufacturer's instructions indicate. The hitch mounts between the frame and the bumper brackets, which means you have to completely detach the bumper brackets from the frame and the bumper, bolt the bumper brackets in place against the hitch brackets, then reattach the bumper to the bumper brackets. However, now you have a 1/2" gap (1/4" per side) between the bumper bracket attach points and the mounting points on the bumper. You either have to make your own 1/4" spacers and buy longer bolts or bend the mounts into place. From a company like Curt, I found this disappointing. The manufacturer should have provided longer replacement bumper mounting bolts and spacers (4 each) and included this process in the instructions.

Nice look, inspect before installing!

Reviewed By David C (Ruston, LA) Reviewed for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma —6/25/2013 8:49 PM

The Receiver seemed well constructed for the price paid. However I didn't notice that one brackets were bent until I tried installing. Luckily i was able to bend the bracket back close enough to mount but there was plenty of prying and pulling to make all holes line up. After all said and done my bumper is off center 1/16" to the left, but I can live with that. There needs to be more packing around the bracket "ears" when shipped.
