When you're roaming around no man's land in your off-road chariot, you've got to bring along plenty of gear to handle unexpected situations. Emergency surgery on your rig requires the right ratcheting scalpels. The kiss of a rattlesnake needs a quick shot of anti-venom. The loss of a cooler means having to break into your stash of C-rations. But, Jeeps have limited gear storage space, and you can't just toss your stuff on the back seat. Pack that loose gear safely away in the Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover.
Custom designed for a perfect fit on your tailgate door, the Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover gives you 2 portable pouches to house everything from hand tools to hand sanitizer. Best of all, your Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover uses a universal MOLLE/PALS attachment system, so you can take off the pouches, add more pouches, and rearrange them to suit your individual cargo-hauling demands.
Built tough from UV-stable, 600-denier polyester, your Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Cover has the backbone to survive life on the trails. Plus, it comes in 4 rich color options and installs securely with hefty Velcro straps. Lifetime Warranty.

Bought the BDU camo one and the quality is excellent! Easy install and because it's MOLLE compatible, my other bags that I bought at surplus hang great! I have have a full med kit that is now hanging right there...along with tools.

The construction of the cover looks very good, the installation screws are nothing special. The cover is not as pictured for the 2012 so there is less useable surface. The included two bags are sell made and partitioned to organize several items. If you have a cargo liner with a rear lip you will have to pull the big bag upward while closing gate or it will defor lip as it just misses the bed floor on highest attachment points. Overall it has helped to organize my recovery and air charge gear. Happy with the purchase

This little storage fix really cleaned up the limited space in the back. I got the recovery strap, Mag-lite, winch control and a few other odds and ends in the bags which keeps them from rattling around in back and getting all tangled up. These small bags are bigger than they look! They even came with shoulder straps if you gotta grab your stuff and go. It also helps keep everything dry since no matter what I do the soft top lets some water in. There's not much space left once the bags are attached but I was able to squeeze in some small items with carabiners. It attaches easily in about 10 minutes (I put it in the dryer for a few minutes first to soften it up and make sure I had full stretch on install). I'm eyeballing the overhead storage now.

a great system that is very usable as delivered. Easily upgraded with additional pouches, ties, etc. I've used the bigger bag for an extensive off-road first aid kit and the smaller bag for flashlight, batteries, misc. items. The mounting system was very easy to install. the two bags can be mounted in various horizontal positions with room to spare. The entire package is considerably less expensive than the nearest competitor and virtually offers the same end use.
