This tent was a gift for my boyfriend. It arrived on time and in good condition. After researching SUV tents I decided on this one based on the reviews. Boyfriend was very impressed with his gift. We can not wait to use it next summer. I was very impressed with Auto Anything. With the $30 coupon, this tent cost less than at any other retailer; Amazon included. We are planning on buying the truckbedz to use with it as well.

I love the 8400 tent. It's huge and very sturdy. It's 7.25 ft tall (which is awesome), so it can be a bit difficult to erect it alone. With two people, it take less than 15 minutes to get it up. After an epic rainstorm the other night, where trees nearby fell over, only one of the fiberglass poles splintered. That was the total damage the tent sustained. AutoAnything and Napier were fabulous about replacing the pole, under warranty. I also really like that it can attach or stand alone.

When I received the tent, I immediately set it up in the driveway to try it out and apply seem sealer. The tent performed perfectly and I was very pleased with the quality of materials used in it's construction. About 30 minutes after setup, we had a heavy rain and even though I had not had a chance to apply the seam sealer as recomended, to my surprise the tent was perfectly dry inside. After the fabric dry.

I bought this tent for my XTerra and it functions beautifully! Conducted a set/parts check in my yard prior to,my first camping trip to Ginnie Springs. Tent went up easily with one person - 100% success! Impressed the neighbors as well. Roomy, comfy, and sharp looking. I highly endorse this product.

We assembled the tent the first time with relative ease by carefully following the instructions. There were a couple of small pieces missing which were sent out the next day in regular mail by Napier customer service. It was a bit disappointing that they sent the wrong parts but another email had another part sent immediately. It hasn't arrived yet but hopefully it will be the right one this time. Overall we are very satisfied with our purchase and customer service.

Recently got a '13 Taco double cab with 6' bed and mid-rise camper shell. Had rear glass remove and installed accordion boot for access to camper. With the Sportz tent attached it makes for an excellent set up for me. Air mattress in truck bed works great. Only tested tent so far for fit and now just waiting for warmer weather to put it to use.

Very easy setup( just follow the instructions) I like the screen porch area to keep bugs out especially flies & bee's...as far I'm concerned I'm comfortable with it except it a little pricey but it will pay off in a few camping trip other than paying $150+ a night hotel. Gone camping! :)

2009 Scion xB
The "vehicle match" list does not include Scion as a tested vehicle. I notice the exhaust pipe on my Scion exits just under the lower rear panel (where bumpers used to be). I see no photos of this-or any-attached to an XB.

HI, This is a direct-fit product so make sure you can select your vehicle from our list. Unfortunately, It looks like Napier doesn't make an SUV tent for the XB at the moment, but maybe soon.flag Accept Answer

How easy or can we unattach the tent from the SUV. I'm looking for an alternative to a popup camper. This seams like it would work where we could sleep off the ground and have access to the SUV within the tent. However, I'd like to be able to pull way from the campsite now and then. How difficult would this be and then reattach after comming back.

I have an Acura MDX and would like to purchase this for me and my children. How does the tent secure around the vehicle? Do I have to have something adhered to the outside of my vehicle?

I am looking at getting the tent for tailgating. With a tv running, you need to kick the engine on periodically to recharge the battery. How does running your car and the exhaust work with the tent?

I have a Yukon 2000 with barn door rear doors, not overhead rear doors, will the Sportz tent system work with this? Also, should I order 10 x 10 model with the larger Yukon model?
Answered by Elizabeth C. — Jul 20, 2012 2:53 PM
Hello. The Sportz Tents are showing that they would work with 2000 Yukon and yes I would order the 10x10 model for the larger model size and it allows you sleep two more people.flag Accept Answer

A friend and I plan to meet at the camp site. Can we back 1 mini van up to each side of the Napier Sportz tent?
Answered by Anonymous — Jun 26, 2012 7:49 AM
No, there is only one sleeve to attatch to the vehicle. Maybe you could back the other one up to the screen porch/front door, but you'd have no way to enter the tent, unless you thread your way through the vehicle into the tent.flag Accept Answer

Can anyone tell me if the overhead rear door needs to remain open while attatched to the tent? We are thinking it would be more secure if we are able to close the rear hatch overnight while we're sleeping.
Answered by Michael K. — Jun 19, 2012 5:04 PM
Hi Pat, yes you can use the tent with the rear door closed. You can also remove the sleeve altogether so you can use your vehicle and leave the tent standing.flag Accept Answer

We plan on putting together a photo shoot in the next week or so. I got one for my 2010 Honda Element and it's roooomy! You can stand up with no problem in it since it's 9 foot by 9 foot. I'll post another answer with links to photos once we put the post up on our blog http://www.ridepros.com/.flag Accept Answer

All you have to do is turn the light intensity knob or dial down if you want to keep it open, turn it back up for vehicle use. GinniCflag Accept Answer
