Pop % Lock for '06 Dakota

Reviewed By Larry C (APPLETON, WI) Reviewed for a 2006 Dodge Dakota —8/7/2012 8:17 AM

Seems to be a quality device except for the cylinder lock portion. I suspect that is a cheap wafer lock but it serves the purpose. I have a vinyl tonneau cover so if someone really wants to put out the effort my gear is gone anyway. Hopefully the extra time involved will push thieves to easier picking. Installation was a snap, just follow the instructions. Beware of those factory installed latch bolts-they put 'em in tight. I broke a (cheap) "L" wrench & had to go with a socket & breaker bar. My only real concern is "will it survive a WI winter", lots of salt to corrode the inner workings of the cylinder. Only time will answer that.

2007 Dakota Quadcab PowerGate Install

Reviewed By Troy S (Wichita, KS) Reviewed for a 2007 Dodge Dakota —3/19/2009 9:38 PM

The easiest part of the installation was running the cable under the truck. Once I completed installation it worked as advertised, now my tailgate, Truxedo Lo Pro QT Tonneau Cover, and anything I carry are secure. The directions state 1997-2005 Dakota, they work on a 2007 but with minor changes. Step 1 remove the plastic bexel with your fingers, I spent about 20 minutes w/ no success, I finally went to the kitchen and got a plastic spatula and was able to get it off. The screws are on the backside of the tailgate, not on the inside as stated and require Torx T-40, not T-30. Step 2 last thing is to reinstall the rods after the handle is installed. Wont work, I had to take the screws out let the handle and powergate drop down then reinstall the rods then mount the powergate and handle. Step 3, Where am I suppose to put the Relay Loom? The directions don't give a clue as to where to put it. I stuck it between the fuse box and fender. I couldn't find any OEM wire routes to pass the wires through the firewall. I found a cable that went through with a large rubber grommet and ran it through there. I found the tan w/light green stripe and light green wires, I spent way too much time trying to attach the wire taps.

We saw this attractive, colorful tailgate net on a truck ahead of us as we were driving down the road. Loved it! Now that we own one , we love the chance to show our patriotism!
