Napier Sportz Truck Tent III Reviews (1 of 190+)

The tent worked just like it said it would. I was a little leery of the strength of the poles after reading others’ reviews, but just being careful prevented any breaks. The tent came with some furry fabric sleeves that were not accounted for in the instructions. A call to Napier told me they were for the truck body straps to protect the paint. At the start of my first set-up, the tent moved around a lot as I inserted the poles because the truck body straps aren’t secured until a few steps into the set-up. After the first set-up, the truck body straps were now the correct length. On my second set-up, I hooked on these straps first, and set-up was even easier. I would recommend a trial set-up before you head out.

Product worked exactly as expected. Straps to fasten the sock to my truck were better than expected. Fabrics, seams, et al were also as expected. Working the zippers without getting the storm welt caught took a bit of practive but was also doable. Other reviewers noted the difficulty getting it folded and back in the bag. I can see where that could be an issue. I bought a larger duffle to hold the tent and the groundcloth and went away happy. As I'm using it in the desert, can't say about the short fly/water resistant wall plan. We'll see.

My husband and I have enjoyed the tent being on our truck, not on the ground. Very easy to assemble with not very much time involved. Would say assembly is simple and fast. Plenty of room. Fit our truck perfectly.

I fish in Missouri and take the 4x4 SUV to many great out of the way areas. I sleep in the truck, but if it is buggy or rains, I use to pack up and leave. Now I can wait out a summer shower in comfort. It is nice to have the tent, a cooler, a nice folding chair and a little table. Air flow on a warm night can be a problem, so I bought a magnetic screen for the SUV window. The tent is a little pricy, but beautifully designed. You can buy cheaper tents, but not one that turns you SUV into a home in the woods. All said, it is perfect for one or two people. The best part is that the dog doesn't have to sleep in the truck. He has his own bed in the tent and can come and go through the zipper flap.

It is a well-made tent that can be attached to a station wagon (Subaru-Outback in my case). It a a bit heavy for a tent of its size. It takes getting used to to set it up especially if it is going to be attached to car. So I recommend to practice it before going camping with it.
