I've used K&N filters in my last 6 cars. They work great! Easy to install, increased power & you don't have to worry about messing with them for 50,000 miles. No need to buy disposable paper filters, install a K&N instead. Great product! I also have one in my 2004 Subaru WRX & my wife's 2012 Acura TSX.

I haven't had the filter long enough to get a good feel for any gas mileage impact. I also tend to be aggressive with the pedal, and have been more experimenting with performance with the filter rather than efficiency. From inside the car w/ windows closed engine seems to sound a little throatier with the filer installed. I can't say I notice much difference with the windows open as I think it is a fairly quiet car. There was one wire sticking out of my filter, hence the 4 quality rating.

An incredibly easy replacement, and a no-brainer if you're looking at those crappy paper filters which are more than half the price of this lifetime filter. With their drop-in filters like this one, I've always noticed a slight increase in MPGs, with maybe a hair more power at high RPMs. If you want cheap, noticable torque across the whole range, go with their intake systems, they're just as great as the drop-in filters, and usually not too much more complicated.
