I bought this as an alternative to K&N because the instructions were so much simpler and the price was better. It went in OK - had to do a bit of squeezing in places and screws for the MAS didn't line-up perfectly, but nothing too serious. Vehicle runs great - horsepower increase isn't overwhelming, but it's there. Haven't put enough fuel through it to determine any mileage increase.

Very nice looking cold air intake for the price with a $25 cash card rebate. The instructions could have been a little clearer, and some pictures would have helped immensely. But I got the system installed and am happy with the performance so far. I sent the first one I received back because the carbon fiber looking cover was scratched. Got the second one and it was scratched too, but not as noticably. Seems like they would protect the most visible part of this thing a little better.

I was very happy with the installation of this piece. I know full well it's not doing anything performance wise but I love hearing that rumble over 2000-2500 rpm. It really works best at WOT. The sound is phenomenal. Honestly I thought my mpg would go down because I would always have my foot on the gas but it really has stayed remarkably the same. The only downside is the whistle can be a little loud and obnoxious at mid-throttle. The instructions also could have been a little more clear.

Nothing really wrong with the parts(quality good). Lack of good instructions very frustating, not to mention lack of necessary parts (mounting bolts). Someone with limited mechanical ability would really get frustrated. Had to chase down mounting screws for the Mass Airflow Sensor, and for the AirBox and "L" mounting bracket. Doesnt appear that they have any quality control.

The Volant intake is a good product but far from excellent. The issues that I encountered include: 1) The 3 X 2 1/2" sleeve does not fit snugly on the throttle body. It does appear to snug down with the clamp, but is prone to possible leaks. 2) The schematic has some discrepancies from realities under the hood that leave you guessing. 3) Does not inlcude custom fit to existing 3" intake from fender well.

with this being the only mechanical mod on my 4Runner so far, it doesn't make any difference on idle nor if you are casually driving around town. you will hear your 4Runner roar though when you stomp on the gas to overtake someone or when you're going up a hill. I've noticed a slight increase in low end power, but very slight. I haven't tested it out much yet on the freeway, but looking forward to that soon. overall, great intake for your money. looks awesome in the engine bay too.
