The growl under the hood is reserved for accelerating. As for hp, not noticed from start, but once you are up to around 40mph it comes alive. This is my fourth CAI from K&N and I always enjoy them. There are many naysayers, but they are just jealous.

Not only does this intake look great, but it also makes the engine area more accessible (the power steering filler was completely hidden by the factory box). It is quite loud at full throttle, though. I added some foam rubber at the battery and fender, and it is much more tolerable now. You do need several tools to install it, and it helped to have some experience working on cars. It fit perfectly.

First time doing anything like this with my Taurus and I love the results. Installation was fairly easy and there is a noticeable change in sound and slightly in horsepower

I installed the system in less than an hour using simple tools. I noticed an average of more than 2 mpg ( that's more than 35 miles per tank) I tow with the vehicle and feel more power on hills. The only down side is the intake noise is louder under full throttle ( which I kinda like!)

Silver tube doesn't seem to sturdy but overall nice fit and finish. Nice sound upon acceleration and I experienced an 1-2 mpg increase.

K&N filters are the best. I was a little let down when I opened the box to find a painted intake tube. No where in the description does it state that the product I was buying was painted aluminum. All of the photos, similar to the one on this page seem to reinforce that the tube was or appeared to be polished aluminum. Not a deal breaker, but disappointed that it was not clearly stated.
