My Ranger is 5 spd manual w/4.0L eng. My goal with this install was to improve the mid range torque [1500-3000 rpm] for day to day street driving especially on hilly roads. I installed the K&N intake first and drove the truck for a week. The mid range torque/power did improve and the truck would more easily climb hills in 5th gear without the need to downshift. I installed the Jet Chip Stage 1 Module which further enhanced the torque and power for day to day driving...Good Combination.

I'm not sure about the horsepower gain, but performance does seem more to have improved. I also added Bilstein shocks from Auto Anything and a Magnaflow muffler I bought locally. So the engine is breathing better, sounds better and the truck rides better. I've used the K&N air filter replacements for years and been very happy, but this time I wanted to go for the added performance the FIPK offers.

Kit is made from high quality materials, and fit into the Ranger. However, the mounts for the Mass Air Sensor required extensive work. It's a round hole on the air tube which required removing material there, and the hole on the mount base was way to small to fit the MAS into. That's why I gave it two stars for Ease of Installation

Maybe it was because I had read the installation instructions a hundred times before I could finally afford to buy it, but the installation was really a piece of cake. Everything fit super well and looks great! I can hear the difference mainly when I first start my truck and the throttle is open all the way. You can hear the rush of air. So far, about 2 mpg savings. Looks super cool. No more paper filters!

Installed the K&N 57 series on my 2006 Ford Ranger. The install was very easy, it looks great, and best of all the truck has more power and seems to be getting about two miles to the gallon better mileage. Glad I made the change, K&N makes a good product, and Autoanything had a very good price and quick delivery.
