The K&N kit offered ease of installation with great instructions (step by step with pictures). Once installed we took the Xterra out for a test drive and immediately noticed a difference in the trucks performance and the supercharger seemed to have better immediate response. I've bought K&N before and highly recommend their products. Now we will wait and see how the gas mileage improves.

I read all the reviews on this site for the K&N intake on before ordering, and decided to experiment with it for myself as the price was right. As noted in the reviews, the instructions could be a bit more clear but the install took only about 1.5 hours (a 2nd set of hands is helpful). I've gone through 2 tanks of gas with the new intake so far & I saw a 2.8MPG (Highway driving)improvement on the 1st one and 1.5 MPG (city driving)on the second one. There is a noticeable improvement in power as I can cruise at the same speed but at 300 less RPM. It also adds a throatier exhaust note. Whine from the Supercharger is more evident now when I stomp the pedal but I don't mind. I would recommend this product & just ordered a Gibson Cat Back system to complement the intake!

K&N did a great job with the instructions, except for the very end with installing the acutal filter - I had to take most of the kit apart again just to squeeze the filter in. Also, I have no idea what normal operation with this kit is supposed to sound like (it's definately more airy sounding). So when the instructions indicate to "listen for abnormal sounds" it leaves one to wonder. I did notice the supercharger spools up at 2.5K instead of the usual 3K. Although this provides power more quickly, I assume it is also increasing wear on the engine. Hopefully, everything will be fine.
