My new k&n intake system was a pain to install, directions were not very clear and the heat deflector shield is very flimsy by design, a better way to secure the heat shield in place would have been nice but by the time I was done the intake system looked good and really allowed my truck to breath.

I remover the original filter and began to install the new one. The support bracket did not line up exactly had to do some bending. all in all installation was ok. The truck is noisy more so that with stock. Did a raod trip pulling a camper and seemed to have more power. Definitely better response.

The directions are confusing since you read the installation of 2 vehicles at the same time. The smaller hose clamps fit nothing, had to reuse factory ones. Bracing doesn't hold heat shield square. spacer for brace missing. No chrome end cap, like picture shows. Because of this, it took 3 hrs instead of 1 to install!

Installation was fairly straight-forward. Everything fit well and I have noticed a performance improvement. Although I have not been able to quantify it. My only criticism is that the rubber seal or pad on the filter enclosure box is not molded to fit so it kinks in the tight bends. The fit and finish in this regard could be improved.

The quality of this kit was no where near that of the original equipment. The "heat shield" does not seal against anything. On the positive side, it does seem to work because my truck no longer bogs at higher RPM the way it did with the stock intake.

before installing K & N air filter on my 6 liter diesel engine anything below 18 degrees vehicle would start ralph and blow black smoke out the exhaust but now I've started the vehicle at 4 degrees with ease and no smoke. I am impressed with that.
