Air Intake Systems

1999 Chevy Silverado Air Intake Systems

The quickest and most popular way to squeeze every last opportunity for power in your car or truck has to do with air consumption. The air intake system was designed from the factory to provide just enough airflow while reducing engine noise and clutter. Unfortunately, most of these designs are not designed to let the most airflow through to your engine. Think of trying to exercise while taking short small breaths, compared to taking big deep breaths. The difference is pivotal. Let that engine breathe freely with one of our cold air intake kits. Check out our Car Air Intake Systems Buying Guide.

"My 99 silverado needed a little boost and under the hood gargle and AEM delivered! I have def. seen an improvement in horsepower and gas mileage. Maybe not the 20% advertised boost(more like 10%) and def. 2 to 3 more mpg. This product complimented my Flowmaster cat-back exhaust." —Patrick C from Clever, MO bought an AEM Brute Force Air Intakes for a 1999 Chevy Silverado.

"I now have a ses light that I will have to get read. It started immediately when installed. Have you encountered any other reports like this. Otherwise everything OK" —Robert G from Linn, MO bought a Taylor Cable Helix Power Tower Throttle Body Spacer for a 1999 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L V8.

"I didn't notice a 'world' of difference but it did seem to help my cold air intake kit not decrease the MPG a little. Shortly thereafter I put on a 80m throttle body too and between the three parts I'm noticing a LOT of improvement!" —John B from Dallas, TX bought a Jet Power-Flow Mass Air Sensor for a 1999 Chevy Silverado.

"LOVE IT quicker throttle responce, more power, better sound. Should have done this years ago." —Cw L from Memphis, IN bought a Spectre Cold Air Intake for a 1999 Chevy Silverado, 4.8L V8.

"I purchased the Airaid Jr Kit as dollars are tight and my 99 Silverado 1500 had lost a little "zip" and not getting the MPG it used to. The kit went on in less than 20 min. with the supplied instructions and upon start-up I could tell the difference in airflow. Power increase could be felt right out of the driveway and 1-2 MPG increase will help out at the pump. I was impressed with the quality of the material, especially the filter. I can see why it will last a lifetime. I would recommend the Airaid Jr. Kit to anyone looking to increase power and MPG without having to spend a lot of money, and buying from AutoAnything will make it even better. Lowell from Iowa" —Lowell M from Cedar Rapids, IA bought an Airaid Jr. Kits for a 1999 Chevy Silverado.

"this was a sinch to install. it took me about 15 minutes, and the sound that it allows my truck to produce is beautiful. i did feel a good mid-range increase in power and gas mileage seems better. i would recomend this intake to anyone with a budget trying to improve there vehicle." —Adam W from Indian Orchard, MA bought a Spectre Cold Air Intake for a 1999 Chevy Silverado, 4.8L V8.

"seemed to give smoother acceleration. gives a nice growl from under the hood much like the ol four barrel carb used to have. only had it in for one tank of gas but priliminary indications suggest a little over one mile per gallon pickup. took us about and hour to put in(easy)" —Jane K from Fresno, CA bought a K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) for a 1999 Chevy Silverado, 1500, 5.3L V8.

"I looked into numerous air intakes ( probably everyone out there ) and I decided to purchase the AEM. The main reason is because of its dry flow technology. The install was very simple and the gains were great. It has more power thru the rpm range and compliments my other upgrades ( dual exhaust and hypertech ). Auto Anything had the best price and I would do buisness again with them in the future." —Mike M from Branford, CT bought an AEM Brute Force Air Intakes for a 1999 Chevy Silverado.

K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (50-State Legal)

Good Product

Overall a good product. It was easy to install and I immediately noticed a difference with my throttle response and now my engine has a smoothness to it. Basically it doesn't feel so bogged down by lack of air. I get better fuel mileage as well and as far as noise under the hood, I can definitely hear a deeper engine noise but only when I accelerate quickly or am going uphill. View more reviews...

Spectre Cold Air Intake

Fitted to a 1999 Chevy Silverado 5.3L V8

Everything went fine until the heat shield installation and as some have discovered and commented on, the heat shield was too tall and had to be cut down to clear the closing of the hood. Since this is a releated problem many others have faced Spectre should address this issue, I cut 3/4" off of mine to clear the closing of the hood and with the rubber seal it still touched the hood and sealed. Other than that the installation was problem free and everything fit, it looks fantastic! View more reviews...

Volant Cold Air Intakes

This thing is awesome!!!!

I got this for my 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500 and I was blown away by the power it helped produce. I haven't tested mileage yet but I am hoping to see 1-2 mpg. Took me about an hour to install just because I struggled with getting the mafs back in place. Overall it's an easy thing to install and looks great as well. Throttle response increased slightly but the low and mid range power is where I feel most of the difference. And it sounds awesome!!!! Definitely worth it in my opinion. View more reviews...
