2005 Ford Mustang Air Intake Systems

The quickest and most popular way to squeeze every last opportunity for power in your car or truck has to do with air consumption. The air intake system was designed from the factory to provide just enough airflow while reducing engine noise and clutter. Unfortunately, most of these designs are not designed to let the most airflow through to your engine. Think of trying to exercise while taking short small breaths, compared to taking big deep breaths. The difference is pivotal. Let that engine breathe freely with one of our cold air intake kits. Check out our Car Air Intake Systems Buying Guide.
Not sure which 2005 Ford Mustang Air Intake Systems are right for you? We have over 20796 customer reviews, with an average rating of 4.5, to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Here's what some of our customers have said:

"The K&N Air Intake system provides significant increase in low to mid RPM throttle response. Response in the 2,000 - 3,000 RPM range is dramatic. Well worth the cost and effort to install. Instructions and installation was fairly easy with the exception of determining which hardware should be used. Diagram needs to list which hardware is required for each step. It can be done with a close look at the instruction diagram, but could be easier. I am glad I made the investment and the kit arrived on time as promised" —James D from Highland Village, TX bought a K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) for a 2005 Ford Mustang, GT, 4.6L V8.

"The installation was really easy. I wasn't happy with the blue color, so I painted it black to match the intake and manifold. There is a small but noticable power gain. The throttle lag that is infamous with the new Mustang almost disappeared and completely disappeared with my Diablo Predator tune. The only drawback is that it makes the air whistle through the intake when the throttle body butterflies are slightly open. This might be annoying to some people but it's worth it because I get at least a 3 MPG increase when driving the speed limit. This part is well worth the low price and the benefits outweigh the disadvantages." —Dustin D from Nashua, NH bought a Jet Power-Flow TBI Spacer for a 2005 Ford Mustang.

"The K&N kit was very professional and easy to install. Although the instructions were very easy to follow, the illustrations were a little bit "blurry". If the hardware were referenced in the text, it would go easier too(ex. 1/4-20 HHCS x 1" long). This package makes our V6 Mustang more fun to drive without the expense of a GT V8 insurance." —Tim O from Whispering Pines, NC bought a K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) for a 2005 Ford Mustang, 4.0L V6.

"I definitely could tell a difference in HP after installing this on my 05 Mustang. It was amazing!! Instructions were fairly easy to follow. It would have helped to list parts by number in each step." —Bill T from Blue Springs, MO bought a K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) for a 2005 Ford Mustang, 4.0L V6.

"Just installed the k&n typhoon on my 2005 mustang v-6. The difference is incredible. The horsepower at 2500rpms and above is like night and day. Like driving a rocket with bucket seats. Two thumbs up!" —Allan T from Seminole, FL bought a K&N 69 Series Typhoon Intake Systems for a 2005 Ford Mustang, 4.0L V6.

"I'm very pleased with the FIPK. The installation took longer than it should have due to the vagueness of some of the instructions. However I could immediately feel the improved responsiveness and my gas mileage has increased from 18.8mpg to 19.5mpg. At almost 1mpg increase that's about 12-13 extra miles per tank of gas. Finally, the kit cleans up the engine compartment a bit b/c the stock intake is bulky and heavy looking." —Jonathan R from San Angelo, TX bought a K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) for a 2005 Ford Mustang.

"I could tell the first time I tested (got on it) that the engine could really breathe. I am satisfied with the performance." —Ronald B from Temecula, CA bought an AEM Brute Force Air Intakes for a 2005 Ford Mustang.

"The installation was simple and clear. Practically didn't need the instructions, as installing was as easy as removing the OEM assembly. Nice clean look. Gave my 05 an even throatier growl. Haven't had a chance to really open up my '05, but can notice the extra air when I open it up.My only question is why there is so much baseplate area that isn't utilized for air intake area." —Derek P from Deltona, FL bought an aFe Cold Air Intakes for a 2005 Ford Mustang, GT, 4.6L V8.

"I love the chrome look love the sound and gave me approx 1.5 - 3!!! mpg improvement according to cars computer over the last 3 tanks compared to previous 6 tanks when bought. Product satisfaction is excellent above expectation. Would think anyone not at least considering is an idiot." —Chris G from Wichita, KS bought a BBK Power-Plus Cold Air Intake Systems for a 2005 Ford Mustang, GT, 4.6L V8.

"MPG is no differance from stock air can. HP you have to reach 5k RPM to feel increase. Overall looks, cool. I just have to get exhaust system now." —Souriya K from Auburn, WA bought a BBK Power-Plus Cold Air Intake Systems for a 2005 Ford Mustang.

Airaid Intake System

CAI `05 Mustang 4.0L

Installation takes about an hr for the intake. I also installed an axle back exhaust at the same time. These mods alone made a significant difference in fun to drive, improve throttle and acceleration. Add a Bama tune and I now added 30+ hp from the stock setup. The cost of these CAI cracks me up, be sure to call AA for their very best price. They beat everyone on price. View more reviews...

K&N 57 Series FIPK Air Intake (50-State Legal)

What a difference!

Instructions were a little vague (surprising for K&N), but installation was about an hour. Went out for a test drive after install and WOW what a difference! Revs so much faster, really pins you back in the seat (my Mustang also has a Magnaflo catback exhaust). This is truly a great bang for your buck upgrade, would highly recommend. View more reviews...
