The best part of this rack is the weight. It is extremely light so anyone can install it. I also have a thule 2 bike rack and the thing is so heavy my wife cannot even lift it ! This is a great rack for smaller cars that are not equipped to handle a heavy rack.

This Bike rack is a Rock! Instead of a standard hitch pin this rack features a grade 8 Bolt with lock washer that threads into the rack which takes up all of the free play between the rack and the hitch receiver. Other racks I've owned that don't have this feature tend to wobble and jostle the bikes around. The stability of the rack offers peace of mind while driving down (also found it to be very ridged while heading into the trails on light off road terrain). The versatility of the rack enables it to adjust to almost any bike and if not there are accessories such as extra wide tire trays available from the manufacturer that can be swapped out for the standard tire trays on the rack. Over all I'm very impressed with the design of this rack and the features it includes. Saris also offers the Freedom "EX" 2-Bike Rack with the added functionality of a pivot which allows the user to move the bikes out of the way to gain trunk access while the bikes are still secured to the rack. Definitely a nice adder if you are a more active rider but not worth the extra cost as it is only a minor nuisance to someone who is not using the rack every day. In my opinion the Freedom 2-Bike Rack is an excellent value as an entry level hitch mounted rack. At the price point it and I would definitely recommend to a friend!

In making our treks from Ohio to Florida & Colorado we needed a secure platform carrier for our carbon & aluminum bikes. The Saris Freedom fit the bill at a reasonable price. The bikes ride well, are secure and give me peace of mind that they'll arrive at our destination in great shape. Initial installation was a little cumbersome but got much easier with more use.

After much studying of all the bike racks out there, we found this one to be perfect. We have new "Electra Townie" cruiser bikes. One of them has fenders and both are lady's style which made most of the racks available not work without adding an adapter bar. This rack works with both our Pick-up and our Rav4 that has the spare tire on the back. It is super easy to install and load the bikes on. We couldn't be happier!

Fit and finish are very nice. Assembly is a snap. Getting it set up just right so both bikes fit right took some time, now that it's done it works well. The main reason we went with the Freedom is my wife has a drop-frame bike. I would have liked to go with a SuperClamp, but this was half the cost.
