Riding bicycles is all about freedom. But loading and unloading your bikes to and from cumbersome bike racks can make you feel like a slave. So free yourself from the racks that bind with the Saris Freedom Hitch Mount Bike Rack. Featuring a tray design, the Saris Freedom is easy to load and unload. And Saris' proprietary Cuscino (Italian for pillow) rubber-lined frame cradles baby your bikes while holding them secure.
What the name doesn't tell you is that it means all bike types and sizes fit—even recumbents (requires Long Wheelbase Bar, sold separately). The easy-to-adjust hold-downs and ratcheting straps keep bikes secure, while the rugged injection-molded wheel trays keep bikes safe and damage free.
Designed to work with 2" standard hitch receivers, the Saris Freedom hitch mounted bike rack easily slips right into your hitch. The rack features a foot-pedal that tilts it away from your tailgate for easy cargo access, and folds it up to the vehicle when not in use. And for added confidence, Saris builds your Freedom Hitch Mount Bike Rack in the USA, and they back it with a Lifetime Warranty.

The best part of this rack is the weight. It is extremely light so anyone can install it. I also have a thule 2 bike rack and the thing is so heavy my wife cannot even lift it ! This is a great rack for smaller cars that are not equipped to handle a heavy rack.

This Bike rack is a Rock! Instead of a standard hitch pin this rack features a grade 8 Bolt with lock washer that threads into the rack which takes up all of the free play between the rack and the hitch receiver. Other racks I've owned that don't have this feature tend to wobble and jostle the bikes around. The stability of the rack offers peace of mind while driving down (also found it to be very ridged while heading into the trails on light off road terrain). The versatility of the rack enables it to adjust to almost any bike and if not there are accessories such as extra wide tire trays available from the manufacturer that can be swapped out for the standard tire trays on the rack. Over all I'm very impressed with the design of this rack and the features it includes. Saris also offers the Freedom "EX" 2-Bike Rack with the added functionality of a pivot which allows the user to move the bikes out of the way to gain trunk access while the bikes are still secured to the rack. Definitely a nice adder if you are a more active rider but not worth the extra cost as it is only a minor nuisance to someone who is not using the rack every day. In my opinion the Freedom 2-Bike Rack is an excellent value as an entry level hitch mounted rack. At the price point it and I would definitely recommend to a friend!

We are in our late 60's. Still like to ride bikes. Where we live is to hilly. So we needed a rack for the back of the car to get us to places we can ride. This works great. We don't have to lift the bikes to high and it holds the bikes tight. Only used it once so far. But it did a fantastic job.Our bikes are Day6 bikes.Semi-recumbant. The rack adjusts perfectly.
