Description:

You can keep telling yourself that this has never happened before, but deep down, we both know that’s not the case. As we age, it’s natural for performance to decline. Sometimes, that brake pedal won’t pop back up as quickly as we remember. Luckily for you and your ride, StopTech has released their Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit. Now you can improve your soggy brake pedal without needing to visit the mechanic and having an awkward talk.

The factory equipped your car, truck, or SUV with rubber brake lines. Now, these work fine, especially when new. But as the years go on and the miles are racked up, these lines start to swell and break down. As a result, your braking performance begins to suffer. Once you start to notice your brake pedal is feeling less firm, and you can no longer smoothly come to a stop, it’s probably time that you look into upgrading your brake lines.

Now, you may be wondering what makes these a worthy upgrade. StopTech starts with a Teflon inner line which will resist expansion and will not degrade from the brake fluid. The Teflon layer is then covered with braided stainless steel which provides support and shape while protecting against impacts and abrasions. But StopTech even goes one step further by covering the stainless steel with a clear abrasion resistant pvc cover, which further protects against chafing.

This may sound like overkill, but the difference will be noticeable the first time you use your brakes. Your pedal will feel more responsive. That weird pulsating feeling will be gone too; instead you’ll be enjoying smooth, consistent brake pressure. If your brakes are subject to heavy duty, whether it be from towing a trailer or enjoying a track day, you’ll appreciate this upgrade even more. These lines are DOT approved and are completely street legal. StopTech tests all lines to an incredible 4500 psi; that’s about 4x more than your daily driver will ever produce, so you can feel confident about your upgrade. To make installation simple, all required mounting hardware, including crush washers (where applicable) are included. These kits are vehicle specific and are designed to be a completely bolt-on upgrade. StopTech backs their stainless steel brake lines with a 90-day warranty. And when you purchase from AutoAnything, you’ll enjoy fast free shipping. Need some assistance? Our friendly, helpful customer service team is available 7 days a week to answer any questions you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these the same length as stock?
Yes, these are approximately the same length as stock brake lines, if you have a lifted vehicle, you might need longer lines

Are they coated?
Yes, StopTech stainless lines are coated with a protective pvc coating to protect against minor abrasions

Are these approved by department of transportation?
Yes, these are DOT approved for street legal use

Is all hardware needed included?
Yes, all crush washers (when required) and mounting hardware is included

Will I have to bleed my brakes after changing these?
Absolutely yes, you will want to purge your system from all air. After installing all brake lines, bleed the caliper furthest away from the brake master cylinder first. Most cars this is right rear, left rear, right front, then finish at left front (closest to the brake fluid reservoir and master cylinder).

Integral part of brake upgrade

I changed the original old rubber lines out during a long-overdue brake system overhaul recently and believe these lines have contributed to the significantly improved braking response. The four stars for "ease of installation" kinda goes without further explanation for a job like this on an old truck. The flare nuts tend to round regardless of how much penetrating oil

Change your rubber hose to these

These were really easy to install. They look great. I highly recommend if you're doing a full brake job change your rubber hose to the stainless steel ones. Besides appearance I feel like a gives more stopping power to the caliper. Which are power stop calipers

Nice brake lines, but...

Brake lines look great, good quality. I just wish they had a bracket to mount the ABS sensor wire like the OEM lines. Also, since the caliper side ends don't have any alignment/location features you'll need to experiment with the proper angle to ensure enough slack and no binding when wheels are turned lock to lock. I just lightly snugged the banjo bolt to test angle, torqued them once I found the right angle.

Watch your torque

Overall the brake line kit was a decent value and easy to install. However the banjo bolts included in the kit are not the same strength as the oem Honda bolts, and failed when attempting to torque them to Honda specs, which aren't that high to begin with. Be careful when tightening their bolts or reuse existing bolts with new washers as many online posts have described.

Great upgrade on a 2008 Tundra Crew 4x4

Love my upgrade. The brake pedal feels more linear now, instead of a mushroom feeling. Pedal feels like a sedan. Would buy again if I get another truck!

Not what I expected

I didn't feel any difference on the brake pedal nor stopping power. They don't come with stock brackets and therefore you have to use cheap zip tied to tie the lines to the vehicle leaving your speed sensors flopping around. As far as for the steel braided lines they look of good quality and construction, seems they will outlast stock rubber hose anytime

Best brake upgrade for the least money.

I was ok with the brakes on our 2004 F-150 Super Crew, but my wife test drives new and pre-production cars for a living and she started complaining about how soft and spongy our truck's brakes were compared to these new cars and trucks. I had already had stainless braided hoses on the 2004 Mercury Marauder I owned, and since it made a HUGE improvement on that car I decided to do the same for our F-150. The pedal is now much firmer and brakes respond quicker and stronger.

Great brake lines for a great price

These are high quality lines that fit as they should. Be careful when installing not to over tighten the flares or the banjos as you will get leaks. Bought these for my S2000 to tighten up the brake feel and they did the job. Don't forget to run some quality fluid at the time of install. These are a great value, just know that the front and rears are sold separately. Thanks Autoanything.com!
