Founded in 1970 by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand in the German town of Schiltach, BBS has a worldwide presence. Its engineers design, test and manufacture every product, as performance and technology remain the driving force within the company. “Technology through Motorsports” is still the BBS moto.

Its founders were amateur racers looking for performance gains on the racetrack. Fiberglass body panels were developed to cut weight. Then the focus shifted to unsprung weight, which they endeavored to reduce with the development of an innovative, 3-piece racing wheel. This positioned the company in the motorsports sector and gained the attention of factory racing programs – not least of which was BMW. The company expanded steadily over the years, eventually adding road wheels to the catalog.

In ‘83, the original 3-piece “RS” design wheel was launched and remains iconic in the modern wheel industry.
