Exhaust, Mufflers & Tips

Teslas are cool, but some people want a little bark to go along with their bite. Ah, the sweet sound of redline...

2005 Chevy Silverado Exhaust, Mufflers & Tips

There are few things in the car realm more annoying than a bad exhaust. Leaky exhaust systems can hurt performance, fuel economy, throw check engine codes and prevent your car from passing smog. A high-quality performance exhaust can be one of the most rewarding mods you can do to your vehicle. Every time you accelerate, shift or rev the engine you get a visceral impact from the sound and feel of your exhaust cracking and burbling.

A good exhaust setup can also be one of the best style upgrades for your car, whether it’s a side, single or dual exit, a chrome or titanium exhaust tip can make your car stand out. An exhaust system is a relatively expensive mod, that’s why it’s important to do research to find the best exhaust system brands and types to fit your vehicle and your customization goals.

Aftermarket manufacturers spend thousands of hours of prototyping and testing their custom exhaust systems to ensure every piece - from the headers to the muffler – performs to their specifications. Want to know how exhaust systems work or compare a slew of performance exhausts? Check out our exhaust buyers guide for an in-depth comparison.

"Replacement when very smoothly. Almost too smoothly, if you know what I mean. Just too easy! But...when we started that engine up, the low mellow tone of the system just told you that all was right. When accelerating you get the sound of the engine working. When you reach cruising speed, it get fades away. Very nice!" —Bob C from Milton, WI bought a Flowmaster Super 50 Series SUV Mufflers for a 2005 Chevy Silverado.

"Anyone will not go wrong in purchacing this item . I love how they look on my truck. They fit perfect and the sound is awwwsume to say the least. Luvvit" —Leo P from Fort Mcmurray, AB bought a MBRP Rolled Straight Exhaust Tip for a 2005 Chevy Silverado.

"I am extremely pleased and impressed with this tip. It is much better looking than the Borla 5" tip that came with my Borla diesel system. I give it SIX stars. Thank you." —George K from Burton, MI bought a MBRP Dual Wall Straight Exhaust Tip for a 2005 Chevy Silverado.

"The install of the banks was easy clean no clearance issues looks and sounds great. You can run it with or without the tip. So for me you get your moneys worth and looks like you went to an exhaust shop" —Stewart M from Pittsville, VA bought a Banks Monster Exhaust System for a 2005 Chevy Silverado, 1500, crew cab, 6' 6" short bed, 5.3L V8.

"The system arrivedThe system arrived in three days, it was exactly as described. Installation was simple it took approximately an hour and a half including removal of the old system. Not sure on added gas mileage but the power seems good and the sound is great, not too loud but deep enough to add that little extra. The only problem was a missing clamp; Flowmast" —David B from Barrington, NH bought a Flowmaster Exhaust Systems for a 2005 Chevy Silverado.

"The exhaust shipped quickly and looked great. All parts fit nicely. All paperwork stated that exhaust would ship with band clamps and it came with saddle clamps but they worked great. Install was simple with the exception of the removal of the stock exhaust. I didn't have a lift and my sawzall came in very handy. I had to cut the exhaust in two spots for removal. Recommend this exhaust to anyone looking for a clean look and great sound. It dropped my EGTs down 200+ degrees." —Ryan R from Depoe Bay, OR bought a MBRP Exhaust Systems for a 2005 Chevy Silverado, 6.6L Duramax.

"Install was easy except for the front hanger is a bit too far back. When installed with out welding the clamp has to go in a certain spot that fights the hanger location. O ther than that I love it." —Eric B from Long Beach, CA bought a Banks Monster Exhaust System for a 2005 Chevy Silverado, 1500, crew cab, 6' 6" short bed, 5.3L V8.

"This system definitely wakes up the sleeping bear in your truck!! There's nothing like starting it up and hearing that rumble.. It's awesome, but not overpowering either. I went with the all s.s. system so you know it'll last. Installation was straight forward, but no matter how much tweaking, I could only get about 1/4" clearance around the spare tire.. A little concerned, but I'll keep my eye on that. I might have to trim the pipe that goes over the muffler and re-tweak everything to gain a little more space. Other than that, I would totally recommend this product to anyone that wants to add a nice throaty sound to their truck" —Matthew W from Phoenixville, PA bought a Flowmaster Exhaust Systems for a 2005 Chevy Silverado, 1500, light-duty, extended cab, 6' 6" short bed, 5.3L V8.

"The MBRP 4" cat back exhaust is a great system. Very easy to install, sounds awesome and really adds to the appearance of the truck. If your in the market for a diesel exhaust system you can't go wrong with MBRP." —Braden B from Wichita, KS bought a MBRP Exhaust Systems for a 2005 Chevy Silverado, 2500HD, 6.6L Duramax.

Gibson Exhaust Systems

Nice system

This exhaust system is awesome. Very easy to install, and I love the way the tip looks. Best of all, my truck sounds great now. I can drive and have my truck be quiet, but I can also make noise if I want to. Love this exhaust, and will buy another for my future trucks. View more reviews...

Borla Exhaust Systems

Outstanding Exhaust System

The old adage, "You get what you pay for" is definitely true when it comes to exhaust systems. Borla is one of the most expensive on the market but if you want quality and performance then this system is for you. Installation was a breeze and everything lined up perfectly. Best of all is the deep throaty growl you get from system and the highly polished tips that are welded, not clamped, onto the exhaust pipes look awesome. View more reviews...
