1999 Chevy Tahoe Exhaust, Mufflers & Tips

There are few things in the car realm more annoying than a bad exhaust. Leaky exhaust systems can hurt performance, fuel economy, throw check engine codes and prevent your car from passing smog. A high-quality performance exhaust can be one of the most rewarding mods you can do to your vehicle. Every time you accelerate, shift or rev the engine you get a visceral impact from the sound and feel of your exhaust cracking and burbling.

A good exhaust setup can also be one of the best style upgrades for your car, whether it’s a side, single or dual exit, a chrome or titanium exhaust tip can make your car stand out. An exhaust system is a relatively expensive mod, that’s why it’s important to do research to find the best exhaust system brands and types to fit your vehicle and your customization goals.

Aftermarket manufacturers spend thousands of hours of prototyping and testing their custom exhaust systems to ensure every piece - from the headers to the muffler – performs to their specifications. Want to know how exhaust systems work or compare a slew of performance exhausts? Check out our exhaust buyers guide for an in-depth comparison.

"The Corsa performance exhaust has completely met my expectations. It looks absolutely awesome with the 4" pro series tips and its made from all 304 stainless steel. I love the sound and everyone that has heard it says the exact same thing including the guys at the muffler shop I had install it. There is absolutely no drone at all. The low rumble when the engine is at idle sounds great and when you get out and open it up on the highway it sounds killer." —John S from Hartshorne, OK bought a Corsa Performance Exhaust for a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, 4.6L V8.

"Probably one of the best and easiest headers I have ever installed. The 14ga stainless steel is nice and heavy and meant to last. Welds are perfect as well as the fit onto the OEM collector. I have noticed that the engine breaths easier. My choice of finish was the plain stainless. It darkened up a bit and looks good. Personally I feel the other coatings are just for looks and don't justify the cost. I highly recommend JBA Headers." —Carlo P from Medford, NY bought a JBA Cat4ward Headers for a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

"These cats look great. But they sit under the truck so who cares what they look like. They do however rattle at 1100 RPM's(most likely the heat shield). Also it would have been nice if the website had said they didn't come with gaskets. Other than that great price, and no more Check engine light or lagging horses.." —James W from Ronkonkoma, NY bought a Magnaflow Catalytic Converters - 49 State Legal for a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

"After much research it was only Gibson that seemed to be the best for me. After i took delivery Gibson was the best... Unbeatable workmanship and design. The fit was truly perfect, no heating or bending needed. The sound is deep, smooth and tuned to a pefrect sound level with a much desired low interior resonance. All this and a Stainless tip included. Gibson is truly an quality American product." —Scott R from E Falmouth, MA bought a Gibson Exhaust Systems for a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

Magnaflow Exhaust Systems

Single Exhaust outlet

Exhaust went on easy and fit purfect took about an hour to remove the old one and replace. The only problem I had which was my fault was when trying to adjust the pipes the joint between the first pipe and muffler slide apart some and when I tightened it up the exhaust was leaking. I had to loosen the exhaust and readjust it. Exhaust has a slight rumble but not to loud. Not sure if there is any preformance improvement. I bought this to replace the OEM exhaust that was rusting out. View more reviews...
