2005 Ford F 150 Exhaust, Mufflers & Tips

There are few things in the car realm more annoying than a bad exhaust. Leaky exhaust systems can hurt performance, fuel economy, throw check engine codes and prevent your car from passing smog. A high-quality performance exhaust can be one of the most rewarding mods you can do to your vehicle. Every time you accelerate, shift or rev the engine you get a visceral impact from the sound and feel of your exhaust cracking and burbling.

A good exhaust setup can also be one of the best style upgrades for your car, whether it’s a side, single or dual exit, a chrome or titanium exhaust tip can make your car stand out. An exhaust system is a relatively expensive mod, that’s why it’s important to do research to find the best exhaust system brands and types to fit your vehicle and your customization goals.

Aftermarket manufacturers spend thousands of hours of prototyping and testing their custom exhaust systems to ensure every piece - from the headers to the muffler – performs to their specifications. Want to know how exhaust systems work or compare a slew of performance exhausts? Check out our exhaust buyers guide for an in-depth comparison.

"I installed this exhaust in around 2 hours. The hardest part was trying to get both sides lined up which will require more than one person. Sounds nice and throaty when the RPMs are up and smooth when down." —Nicholas V from Pittsburgh, PA bought a MBRP Exhaust Systems for a 2005 Ford F-150, SuperCab, short bed, 5.4L V8.

"I can't speak enough abt my headers!!! Look great! Sound great! Just an overall awesome product now that they are on. They are a pain to put on. Driver's side wasn't difficult but tge passenger side was a complete and total pain in the butt!!! Although the installation wasn't fun these are totally worth it!!!" —Angela H from Conway, AR bought a JBA Cat4ward Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8.

"grat sound- not loud at idle or cruising just when accelerating no drone whatsoever" —Matthew W from Clermont, FL bought a Magnaflow Performance Mufflers for a 2005 Ford F-150.

"I love everything about them, but I would definetly put a couple tig welds on them to keep them in place. Other than that they are the bomb." —Todd H from Englewood, OH bought a RBP Round Exhaust Tips for a 2005 Ford F-150.

"They are lighter and more efficent at flowing the exhaust gas pressure. Truck seems slightly more nimble and the picture shown is not the actual headers, They are more like a "shorty" version." —Logan M from Scottsdale, AZ bought a JBA Cat4ward Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150.

"great replacement headers. much nicer then the stock headers on my f150. Very difficult to replace on the f-150 because of Ford's design for engine access" —Kyle B from Lebanon, NJ bought a Banks TorqueTube Exhaust Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8.

"These headers are the best built I have seen. Thick heavy duty flanges, nice smooth bends." —John D from Florence, WI bought a Banks TorqueTube Exhaust Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8.

"love the headers i picked up 80 miles on a tank and they sound awesome (magnaflow muffler w/no cats). but i blew a gasket yesterday. do yourself a favor and get the ceramic coated ones and buy some aluminum gaskets too. dont forget to retorque the bolts after about a week." —Zachary H from Biloxi, MS bought a PaceSetter QuikTrip Long Tube Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150.

"The headers are a great addition to my truck. Installing them though is a whole different story. Driver side installation no problem. Passenger side installation you better pack a lunch and bring some backup to keep you focused. It would also help if you were a contortionist and had really tiny hands." —Quentin E from Beaumont, TX bought a JBA Cat4ward Headers for a 2005 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8.

Ford F150

Very nice tip, easy install. My only issue was that the powder coating looked a little cheap. Overall I am happy with the product View more reviews...

Flowmaster Super 40 Series Mufflers

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!

I puchased the muffler a couple of weeks ago and after the installation, what a difference. The sound is awesome. the lack of back pressure has given me alittle better performance, especially off the line. My 05 Ford f_150 FX4 now with this muffler and sound is the complete package. The compliments just keep coming from everyone that sees & hears my truck. Thanks for the upgrade to my happiness. Will purchase again, if needed. View more reviews...
