Nice Driving Lights

Reviewed By Mark S (Rapid City, MI) Reviewed for a 1976 BMW 2002 —7/20/2015 8:50 AM

In installed these light on a 1976 BMW model 2002. Given the age of the car, the lights on it were less than ideal. The Hella's hava a great range an width. I am totally satisfied with these lights and would recommend them to anyone wishing to see better at night.

Very cost-effective motorcycle driving lights

Reviewed By Christopher E (Olympia, WA) Reviewed for a 1977 BMW Bavarian —10/22/2008 7:09 PM

I have previously used 3 different models of PIAA lamps. All were good but eventually succumbed to the ravages of the road (rocks, vibration) and all cost about $200. That will likely be the fate of the Angel Eyes after a year or three, but this time the cost was only about $60. Compared to the PIAAs, the quality of illumination is about the same. The Angel Eyes are easier to aim and adjust. The PIAAs come with a better switch and a marginally better harness; plan on using a fair bit of heat-shrink and tape while mounting the Angel Eyes. The switch is not illuminated, so put it someplace where you can easily feel it in the dark while wearing thick gloves. The switch is also probably not especially waterproof; if it fails, aftermarket alternatives are readily available. The LED light ring is a nice feature; it provides conspicuity for daytime riding without putting any significant load on the charging system. It also makes my BMW look a little bit like a cop bike; I've noticed a big increase in respect from cage drivers since I mounted the Angel Eyes. Someday, when one of them catches a rock in the wrong place, I expect I'll be buying a second pair.

Motorcycle installation

Reviewed By Stephen H (Colorado Springs, CO) Reviewed for a 2004 BMW R Series —1/16/2008 9:19 PM

Lights mount and work great. I had to wire things specifically for the motorcycle, I wanted them to only function when the ignition is on and the engine is running. With the ignition on and the engine cranking, the lights are off. Once the alternator produces normal output, the lights will come on. What I really wanted was one driving light and one fog light. Unfortunately I couldn't purchase a split set like that so I chose two driving lights. My goal is to make the motorcycle more conspicuous to other drivers, I avoid driving at night when possible.
